Indian motorcycles launched the new Springfield cruiser motorcycle. The name of the motorcycle is derived from the fact that Indian motorcycles was originally based in Springfield, Massachusetts.
The Indian Springfield, at first glance looks similar to the Chief Classic with only difference being the hard panniers in comparison to the leather panniers on the Classic.
In terms of mechanics, the bike uses same “Thunder Stroke 111” air-cooled 1811cc, 91bhp V-twin engine as the Chief Classic, Chieftain and Roadmaster. The bike is part of company 2016 product line-up and features quick release windshields and panniers. It can be ridden as a stripped down cruiser or treated as a capable touring model for longer getaways as it comes equipped with cruise control and ABS.
The hard panniers and windshield can be unclipped without tools in order to covert the motorcycle into Chief classic look alike machine. The chassis of the motorcycle is different from the existing motorcycles and it has been stiffened further to carry heavier loads, 242kg of passenger and luggage.
