Alta Motors, a startup electric bike manufacturing company has raised $17 million in funding, the investors include Tesla co-founders Marc Tarpenning and Martin Eberhard. Alta started a project in 2011 and unveiled their first electric bike “Redshift” in 2015. Apparently, it was the only all-electric supermoto/motocross bike introduced at that time.
As many prominent car manufacturers are very keen on developing the electric cars to bring into production for legal on-road, where the small startup company Alta Motors has gone a step further by manufacturing electric dirt bikes rather than manufacturing usual electric scooters. Recently Alta Motors has unveiled a new version of its Redshift series with more advancement in battery backup, speed, and less weight. It features a new lowered subframe and seat with flat track wheels. Alta released a few pictures but specifications are not yet released.
The currently available street-legal versions are Redshift SM & Redshift MX.
Redshift SM starts at $15,500.
