BMW S 1000 RR a one liter machine from Germany carries 999cc inline4 engine produces 195.2 BHP at 13,500 rpm and 113 Nm at 10,500 rpm, weighs 204 kg and claimed a top speed of 303 kmph. Steven Decaluwe from Belgium felt that the power of stock engine isn’t enough. Steven made-up his mind to make an extremely exciting piece of weaponry out of it.
Steven said, “BMW made it hard, presenting me with a high-tech sport bike, full of electronics, with an already superb chassis, engine and performance chart. Being bored of the moderateness in the so-called ‘custom scene,’ I found my inspiration in starting from scratch—no rules, no expectations. I wanted to prove that the chassis and electronic riding aids are so extreme they can even tame a turbocharged engine.”
Stripped off the motorcycle in the Motokouture Motocycles workshop to figure out the way to produce maximum output. Started with installing a Garrett turbocharger with an electronic actuator connected to the ECM, we can’t see the turbo lines visible out because of custom made fuel tank and airbox, the lines went behind it.
To install the turbo, he fabricated new air intakes placed one at the side and two between the headlights. Reworked the fairing, custom exhaust headers, Ohlins front fork with ceramic coated carbon fiber fork tubes, carbon fiber swingarm and a pair of BMW HP4 wheels. Engine management software got revised. Moreover on ensuring the sustainability the compression ratio was dropped to 9.2:1. Custom made electronic box and RR’s tail end got redesigned by Steven to add an extra visual hit. Rear seat, clip-ons and brake parts from Bonnamici were used. Even the weight of the whole motorcycle has brought down to 196 kg. With all above customization the output of the engine was remarkable.
296 hp, 145 Nm of torque at 9100 RPM and a top speed limit set at 319 km/h (which can be reached in fourth gear).
To pay respect to his friend “Vick De Cooremeter” (Belgian racer) who unfortunately lost his life in 2014, this machine was names as “VDC#92/MK30”. Steven says, “Vick was an exceptional character, and would have been the best test pilote ever to test ride this extremely dangerous piece of weaponry.”
