Ducati has recently started to tease its customers with a brand new model on its micro website, which goes by the name of “Project 1408”.
According to the source, Ducati has been reaching out to its VIP customers with the project 1408, teasing a bike made from carbon fiber, which could be a new 1299 Superleggera model, based off the Ducati 1299 Panigale.
Unlike the previous Ducati 1199 Superleggera, which used magnesium as the material for it’s chassis, the new model has a carbon fiber chassis.
A carbon fiber headstock/airbox, as well as a carbon fiber swingarm is expected on the Ducati 1299 Superleggera.
The model includes the brand new high quality Ohlins suspensions, having wheels made of carbon fiber as well, made by BST.
Rumors suggest that the engine of the 1299 Superleggera is said to be close to the WSBK-spec and produces around 220hp of power, which makes it the lightest and the most powerful superbike ever made by the Italian manufacturer.
Since, a new superbike is expected for the 2018 model year, Ducati 1299 Superleggera would be the last model to be produced in the Panigale line, with an expected price of $65,000 or more in USA.
Ducati 1299 Superleggera might be unveiling itself in Milan this November.
