The SSC TT boss and promoter, David Rollins, has been trying his best to organize the Sunshine Coast TT in Maleny, a town in the State of Queensland, Australia. The reason that the Sunshine Coast TT is in news is because the intention is to make it as good as the Isle of Man TT in stature and management.
David is said to have been in touch with the top level Event Management groups as well as doing his best to coordinate with the police, fire brigade, ambulance and Queensland Tourism to have the best possible group of people work on the SSC TT.
He makes it clear that the SSC TT is meant for and intended to attract top racers in the world and not the casual and occasional racers. Also, if it goes ahead, this will not be a free-for-all event for spectators and they will have limited viewing areas for the concerns of safety. They will have access to big screen, security fencing and seating.
As per the proposed plan the SSC TT will run over 47Km course, with sharp turns in the Blackall ranges south of Maleny, taking in popular motorcycle roads such as Mountain View Rd, Maleny-Stanley River Rd, Kilcoy-Beerwah RD, Bald Knob Rd and the Lanesborough-Maleny Rd.
The four-day SSC TT event would consist of untimed practice, timed practice, qualifying and race day with four categories – senior TT open racing, sidecar F1, BEARS F1 and possibly open production or superstock 600.
SSC TT promotor and Inside Line Events International boss, David Rollins has already organized a meeting with the local residents of the town and has got mixed responses. He is, however, remains positive that the event will eventually get the green signal from everybody concerned. He makes a point by mentioning that such an event will be very good for Maleny’s popularity and tourism.
David himself rides a Ducati Panigale 1199 Tri-colour.
