Electronic tolling will start from Monday, enabling vehicles to cross the toll plazas on national highways using a smart tag attached to their vehicles. The cashless payment mechanism, FASTag E-Toll will be operational at 275 toll plazas nationwide.
NHAI said – “FASTag will be available on sale from selected toll plazas on National Highways and designated branches of participating banks from April 25. These can be recharged by making payments through cheque or online through credit card/debit card/NEFT/RTGS or through net-banking.”
NHAI will give 10% cash back incentive to the FASTag users. The cash back amount for a particular month will be credited your FASTag account at the beginning of the next month.
The FASTag E-Toll will offer near non-stop movement of the vehicles through toll plazas. Currently India has 350 toll plazas. This facility will become operational at the remaining tolls within a year.
FASTag has a onetime fee of Rs. 200 and it will be available on sale from selected toll plazas and designated branches of participating banks. National highway authority of India has tied up with ICICI bank and Axis bank for the service. FASTag can be recharged by making payments through cheque or online with minimum recharge amount of Rs. 100 and maximum up to Rs. 1 lakh for commercial vehicles.
