Harley Davidson has increased prices of select models in India by upto INR 30,000 due to Rupee- Dollar exchange rate fluctuation. The new prices will come into effect from 1st April this year. The new prices will be applicable on Harley Davidson Street 750, Sportster Range and Softail Range of bikes available in Indian two-wheeler market.
Harley Davidson in a statement said – the increase is due to the impact of the Rupee-Dollar exchange rate
Presently the ex-showroom pricing for 2016 Harley Davidson Street 750 motorcycle is INR 4.52 lakh. The Sportster Range of motorcycles, which includes Iron 883, Forty Eight and 1200 Custom are at INR 7.37 lakh, 9.12 lakh and 8.9 lakh respectively. The Softtail Range of motorcycles starts from INR 15.15lakh.
Harley Davidson imports most of their motorcycles via CBU route which is directly affected by the exchange rate fluctuation. When the Indian Currency weakens with respect to the Dollar, then more money has to be exchanged against dollars. This exchange rate fluctuation has to be borne by the motorcycle manufacturer while importing via CBU route.
