Hathras Mahotsav with the Ducati Monster SP

IN a unique collaboration between UP Tourism and xBhp, a thrilling bike ride was set in motion from Agra to Hathras on December 14, 2023. A spirited convoy of over 40 bikers, led by our core member Dr. Manan Chaturvedi a.k.a. Shuttervedi, embarked on a mission to promote both Hathras Mahotsav and the cause of safe riding.

Shuttervedi, aboard the Ducati Monster SP, kicked off the journey from Greater Noida on a chilly December 13 afternoon. The bike, a true monster in character, was a sight to behold- bold, powerful, and dressed in vibrant red. It was the kind of ride that even Santa Claus might envy.

The anticipation was heightened by the beastly hum emanating from the Termignoni twin-muffler of the 937cc Testastretta 11° L-twin engine that delivers 111 bhp of power and 93 Nm of torque. Our expedition unfolded on the open highways, where the Ducati Monster SP truly came into its element. The 6-speed transmission, in tandem with Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) up/down, orchestrated a seamless and exhilarating ride.

Venturing beyond well-paved highways, we embraced less-travelled terrains. The robust Ohlins suspension system of the Ducati Monster SP effortlessly absorbed challenges presented by bumps and undulations, revealing a fusion of comfort and tenacity as the bike glided gracefully over less-than-ideal surfaces.

Approaching the bustling city, the Ducati Monster SP, with its mere 186kg kerb weight, demonstrated its nimble nature. Manoeuvring through the chaotic rhythm of bumper-to-bumper traffic became a breeze, thanks to the bike’s responsive handling. The seamless up and down shifts facilitated by the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) system became a silent ally, ensuring smooth transitions between gears even in the stop-and-go dance of urban traffic.

Cruising through beautiful roads and picturesque landscapes, we arrived in Agra just in time to witness a breathtaking sunset. The connection between the symbol of love, the Taj Mahal, and the passion shared by bikers and their motorcycles became palpable.

Gathering the next morning at Mehtab Bagh, with the SDM of Agra and IO UP Tourism, Mr Vishal Srivastava, addressing and flagging off the ride, we embarked on a 60-kilometre journey, riding together with a sense of camaraderie with the support of UP Police with their protocol support.

Arriving in Hathras, a city renowned for its cultural richness and historical significance, we found ourselves amidst a rich tapestry of traditions. The landmarks, such as the Kans Qila, a fortress standing testament to the city’s past, set the stage for a seven-day festival, meticulously organized by UP Tourism, scheduled to commence on December 15, 2023.

At the venue, we were warmly greeted by the RTO Hathras, DM Hathras, and other senior government officials. Their appreciation and encouragement for our efforts in promoting road safety and biking as a lifestyle were truly heartening. Special thanks were extended to all the bikers and biking clubs that joined the ride, transforming it into a successful event despite being held on a weekday.

The brief meet marked the beginning of Hathras Mahotsav, spreading the message of road safety and encouraging biking as a lifestyle. As the festivities commenced, we dispersed to our homes. While most bikers returned to Agra, Shuttervedi took a different route, riding back to Delhi. This offbeat journey took him through fields and a mix of good and challenging roads—a true test of the Ducati Monster SP’s capabilities.

Choosing an offbeat route through fields and mixed roads, we unlocked the Ducati Monster SP’s off-road prowess. The bike handled dirt paths and uneven terrains with a confidence that bordered on audacity. The combination of the robust Ohlins suspension system, powerful engine, and Desmodromic distribution allowed us to traverse uncharted territories with ease.

In conclusion, the Ducati Monster SP 2023 demonstrated its prowess as a versatile and high-performing machine. Whether on well-maintained highways or challenging terrains, the bike delivered an exceptional riding experience. As we wrapped up our journey, we couldn’t help but appreciate the seamless blend of power, style, and innovation that the Ducati Monster SP brought to our adventure, making the ride into Hathras Mahotsav truly memorable.
