Hero Electric, the electric vehicle division of Hero Moto Corp launches its entire range of electric scooters in Kolkata. The company aims to put over three million electric scooters on Indian roads by 2020.
The company said, customers will have a choice to opt for lithium ion battery or lead battery while purchasing the scooter.
CEO Global business Sohinder Gill said, “Lithium battery technology will not only give around five years of petrol-free ride, but will also allow home charging besides, 30 minutes of top up charging.”
He further added that the Optima Lithium Delux Scooter has a top speed of 25km/h and in a full charge it can travel around 65kms. The battery of the scooter last for 4-5 hours.
Hero Electric has also tied-up with Paytm and they’ll be offering an extra discount of Rs 10,000 to select customers in addition to government subsidies on the Optima Lithium Delux Scooter which is around Rs.17000 as per government on the high performance E-scooters.
On the bookings via Paytm, Gill said,: Optima Lithium Delux scooter bookings will start from 25th September on Paytm.
Hero Electric had launched its Optima and Photon scooters back in 2014 to provide a zero emission solution to urban mobility. The scooters were also showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo.
The Nyx Lithium scooter will be available from next month in West Bengal for Rs 45,790.
The company also said that they are in talks with various agencies as well as government authorities to install the charging stations at various locations in order to increase electric vehicles charging infrastructure in the country.
