The India Speed Week 2016 (ISW) announces a 3 day extravaganza celebrating speed, adrenaline and glamour. It will bring together, for the very first time, drag racing teams and speedsters across various automobile segments and categories to Kolkata. The question on everyone’s mind – who will be the fastest of them all!

Governed by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) and managed by Elite Octane Inc., ISW 2016 seeks to place Kolkata firmly on the national and international airstrip racing phenomena.

ISW 2016 will be associating with dynamic, energetic and glamourous young talent who will epitomise speed, adrenaline and elegance as the “Face of the Event”. Renowned personalities such as Baichung Bhutia, John Abraham, Anil Kapoor & Jackie Shroff will be present during the Flag Off of the Drag Races and across the 3 days of the festival to cheer for the teams as they head down the tracks.

Cars and bikes at India Speed Week shall hail from the entire spectrum of products available in India today and beyond. Stock cars and bikes across categories and engine capacities shall be the primary draw. Then there would be cars and bikes with various stages of engine and other modifications. Starting from the mundane filter and header changes to the extreme turbo and NOS enabled versions.

The whole line up would be a one of a kind get together of automobiles in one place.

Drag Racing at India Speed Week shall be in the quarter mile format. So the fastest to cover a quarter mile distance on the runway from standstill is the winner in that category. Categories are defined by engine cubic capacities and modification levels.

Mr. Shrikant Karani from Sportscraft is a prominent FMSCI and national motorsports figure. Mr. Rongom Tagore Mukerji, from Elite Octane Inc. is a drag racing specialist and also a committee member, drag racing committee of the fmsci.

Providing the most ideal and exhilarating backdrop for ISW 2016 with its prolific history and dynamic training facilities, will be the runway of the Behala Flying Club. For the very first time, people in Kolkata shall see Drag Racing here, thereby putting the city firmly on the world map of this exciting motorsport. Imagine the sheer thrill of gearing up with your super car/bike across a 1 KM long runway, that too amidst live music and glamour!

Special arrangements are made to ensure the safety of the spectators and the competitors, including rescue, firefighting and medical support when the race is going on. The events will be run as per the guidelines of the Federation of Motor sports Clubs of India – the governing body for motorsports activities in India.
