KTM is offering a prospective owners a chance to ride the RC16 MotoGP replica model from 2018, but it will be a “track only” production machine for customers with 240 hp where the actual MotoGP RC16 produces 270 hp. KTM is to race with the RC16 in the upcoming MotoGP seasons, and hoping the RC16 will reach the podium soon.
About the track only version model, KTM chairman Stefan Pierer said: “Next year we will be racing with the RC16, but a year later we will tackle it. We want to build at least 100 pieces and also offer this product at a very affordable price. This motorcycle will not receive any road approval; It is only intended for closed racetracks. We want to be as close to the MotoGP bikes as possible. 270 hp will of course not be, but with 240 hp one must count reliably. I definitely want to get a much lower price for this production racer than Honda offers. I would like to see that we are heading towards 100,000 or 120,000 euros. Affordable driving is our philosophy.”
With the limited production of 100 machines, RC16 will also be listed among the buyable MotoGP Replicas like Honda RCV 213-S and Ducati Desmosedici. As of now no there are no photographs and details on the track-only version.
“100,000 or 120,000 Euros” comes to about 75-85 lakhs without tax in Indian rupees!
