The upcoming Suzuki GSX-R250 has been spied in multiple colours recently. And yes, just like before, it looks completely production ready. Also, this time it is sporting graphics making it appear absolutely prepared to hit the showroom floors.
It has been photographed in the typical Suzuki blue colour which is finished in their MotoGP scheme with “Suzuki” written through the side fairing. And the other the red and black colour combination.
While we were hoping to see this new 250cc sportbike at the Intermot show which began today in Germany, Suzuki, it seems, has decided to reveal their quarter-litre sportbike at the EICMA show in November.
Design wise, the GSX-R250 looks like its bigger and more powerful siblings with the raised, slightly curvy, the sharp tail-piece and the sort-of-triangular headlight assembly that the GSX-R lineup is renowned for. The chassis is likely a tube frame and the front suspension is the basic telescopic forks while the rear is supported by the mono-suspension. There’s a single disc each at the front and back which is typical of this class.

Technically, this new GSX-R250 is said to be powered by the same engine that is present in the Inazuma. Remember, it was available in India for a short time! While this will not set the adrenaline rushing in enthusiasts because even though it is a parallel twin unit, it is a mild engine producing only around 24 PS of power. If this remains same in the GSX-R250 as well, it will be terribly outperformed by all its competitors. However, it is speculated that it will be in a different state of tune (read more power and torque) so that the motorcycle is competitive.
We won’t have to wait too long for the surprise to be revealed though. It’s only slightly over a month’s wait away. Also, we have to entertain the possibility of the Gixxer or the GSX-R250 cup by Suzuki in future. Companies like Honda already have their own race series for their CBR250R, hence, it won’t be surprising to see Suzuki doing something similar. This is also supported by the fact that Suzuki already runs the Gixxer Cup with their 150cc Gixxer.
Lastly, our last speculation on this news is that we might see 300cc version of the GSX-R250 for the European and other markets (including India) which is quite the trend in this class. Suzuki might also see the possibility of entering the recently announced Supersport 300 class in WSBK.
