Suzuki Motorcycles has issued a recall for certain models of 2016 GSX-S1000, GSX-S1000A and GSX-s1000FA motorcycles over faulty front brake caliper issue. It is possible that brake fluid of the front brake caliper may leak from the affected motorcycles. There are almost 600 units affected by the recall.
The Suzuki motorcycles recalls GSX-S1000 models were manufactured between 8th july,2015 to 29th July,2015. Affected GSX-S1000A models were manufactured between 10th July2015 to 24th August,2015 while the GSX-S1000FA were manufactured from 21July,2015 to 27th July,2015.
The recall notice issued by Suzuki Motorcycles of America states that the surface of the seal groove in the brake piston cylinder may be damaged, causing brake fluid leakage.
“The supplier of the front brake caliper applied a surface treatment to change the color of the brake caliper body. Due to insufficient sealing, some treating liquid may have entered the brake piston cylinder, damaging the surface condition of the brake piston seal groove in the piston cylinder.”
Suzuki dealers will replace the front brake caliper on the affected motorcycles free of charge. Owners may contact Suzuki customer service against recall identification number 2A48.
