Only a proper road test with the right equipment can bring in the results...

Going by the initial impressions, the CBR will better the Duke in all parameters of speed until Bajaj/KTM decide to take off the rev limiter on the bike.... Lets see whats in store for we the fans/ customers..

    Happy Riding

This is for you KTM Duke 200 set to rock India - Overdrive

    8) Versus the CBR?
The KTM makes the CBR feel heavy, slow to turn though in engine performance the KTM feels likes it accelerating slower than the CBR. But its an illusion, there's little chance of the CBR catching the KTM in a straight line, or around the bends - at the very least, the KTM is roughly 20kg lighter than the CBR. The KTM also has the CBR on the brakes in power and feel, will turn in quicker and more accurately especially at high speeds, hold a tighter line and exit more rapidly. The CBR will probably ride better in the street than the highly strung KTM - though I wouldn't be surprised if the Duke proves to have a firm but supple ride (Bajaj are past masters of this kind of suspension tuning) and will probably feel more at home than the KTM out on the highway, where its calmer nature, bigger stature and softer suspension will mean less effort for the rider (and possibly pillion) at higher speeds over longer distances. Of course, we will verify these impressions at the first possible opportunity to pit the KTM against the Honda.

            • Price

I think it might be priced nearly 3 lakhs. You can see the price in euro and sek in ktm website.

              • We have been comparing KTM vs CBR and KTM vs R15 enough times already, I hope we should also think about A.S.S,spare sourcing between Bajaj,HMSI and Yamaha. This is where most of gets frustated.

Greats pics but the review looks like an advertisement than honest unbiased review . It is not just because of praise , but also due the the manner in which the review is posted .
The comparison with CBR as a tourer is also biased. It focuses only on one spec
                      - acceleration . But is going from point A to point B FAST the only goal of tourer? As the Duke is lightweight it certainly has edge in acceleration department. But how about comparing comfort, highway stability. CBR produces more torque and the too at low RPMs. Apart from that full fairing adds to the stability instead of making it bulky. I think CBR should better choice to cruise due to the torque as far as touring is concerned. Also CBR has more fuel capacity. FE of duke also needs to be compared

Comfort is the only point in favor of CBR250, it may be better on straight highways as it can reduce wind blast considerably, but throw in some curves Duke 200 will easily outrun CBR250 on any day, as it can enter/exit curves far quicker than a CBR250. Low end torque doesn't come into play on a highway, guess you know that.

But, I'd agree that if you are looking to cruise on highway, CBR is better choice, you want that trip to be a bit more involving and want to do a bit of spirited riding, I guess Duke 200 will be more involving (more fun) due to it's quick revving nature.

You can see reviews on overdrive, bsmotoring, zigwheels are also highly appreciative of Duke 200. Wait till the road tests are performed directly against competition, then we can determine which is better in what conditions.

                        • way too over-powered city bike

25 Bhp is too overpowered for Indian cities (atleast for Pune). Even if i take the horsepower out and concentrate on torque, what we need for Indian cities is excellent low-end torque. I don't think an oversquare engine can help there. But a lot of research is done on race-tracks and oversquare engines rule there (i guess). Unfortunately that's not how we drive our bikes on the streets where at every few metres, there is someone across our path and most of the times there is no space to get past him/her. So we slow-down, gear-down and then accelerate and then gear-up. Good low-end torque could help cut down on gear-shifts. What if we had a 100 cc motorcycle which gave its max-torque at 2000 rpm? (wishful thinking )

But still what is commendable from KTM is the great handling and good power-to-weight ratio. I think every manufacturer should learn from them.

                              • Any updates or rumors on what the actual prices of the accessories are looking like coz those prices from the review just seem disturbing!!! I would love to buy the solo seat and the handlebar wind deflectors and those mad mad mad Tank mounted LEDS!!!
Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.
