Non fi woners may have push the button few more time but eventually they will start. They mey have to give throttle input too while keeping in idle when starting up. That's it/ Only & only in case of extreme cold, it might get tough.
    It's as simple
Diesel car costs more than petrol. Only & only if the user thinks he can get better value in long run (read avg monthly use quite high) in comparison to the extra money he is giving over the petrol variant upfront, he will buy a Diesel car. Clear.

If the Fi can prove to provide much more mileage & other factors then it has a value add in long term.

It's not downplaying Fi system right away.

Dada Thanks for the information. I m not saying that i have to go to mechanincs for cold start (I have a Pulsar 150 and i have never ever faced any problem in Delhi with Cold start). I mean to say that as per me i think a carb need regular tuning as i have had in my case with my pulsar 150 as compared to a FI version of the bike.

        • I've ridden bikes with carbs and bikes with FI and there isn't much of a difference to my mind (bearing in mind that my motorcycle is primarily used for commuting).

Yes FI equipped bike starts immediately and requires no futzing with a choke or "fuel enricher", but how difficult is it to pull the choke out and then push it back in a bit later?

Once on the go, like most FI equipped bikes, there are times when it adds an on/off character to the throttle, which causes an uncomfortable surging that is not present in bikes that have carbs.

I guess FI bikes are a little more economical in terms of fuel consumption and are "greener" (if you care about such things), but I definitely wouldn't let the fact that a bike has carbs be a deal breaker.
and the question remains why do i race?

If you have looked at the servicing bill closely, there is a "servicing fee" added to the bill. Under this fee, the service center/mechanic will do only a fixed set of tasks.
Anything else that needs to be done, will be charged extra fee (other than the cost of consumable). This is what falls under maintenance and not servicing.

Since the 200 is still in testing phase i have some queries...

                    1) By installing a FI unit will the bike see a rise in power or it might go downside??
                    2) Bajaj is in this league from quite sometime now, do they plan to give some premium service with the 200 or not??

Premium service means the one given to Ninja 250 owners, they have a special way out regarding spares and repairs so is it the same for the 200?? or just the way it is currently.
#1: As per my understanding, FI and Carb does one job, and that's of providing fuel. Though through FI, one can get a better control over fueling (as compared to Carb) & hence can avoid issues like cold start and others.
#2: You are the one owning and using a Bajaj bike, you should know better.
From what I hear from my friends (owning Ninja250 and KTM 200), those bikes are also serviced at the same service center where other Bajaj vehicles are serviced. I see no reason why 200NS should not get serviced there. About getting "premium" treatment, I guess one will have to wait and see. I didn't read anything about it being mentioned in the press release of 200NS launch.

stunner carb was of my friend, can get the bill but the fi was of a person i met at honda asc.i haven't seen much pgm-fi ed stunner on road ,so i was interested in talking with him,he was frustrated with higher servicing costs.

Buddy, N250 & Duke 200 will get serviced only & only at PBK service station. Yes, presently the P220, 200 & Avenger shares the same because they are/were being sold through PBK. Pulsars & Avenger will be phased out of PBK. They will then have to shift to regular dealer service.
Yes, N250 & KTM 200 gets premium service at PBK as they have dedicated Sr engineer from Bajaj & Sr mechanic from dealer catering to them.

Well said.... I have an RTR 160 FI and this is my 3rd bike and I would say I am in the overall sense disappointed with the engine performance..... It is jerky, inconsistent in power delivery, service guys hardly know anything about it, the bike doesnt even start with a low battery unlike carbs!! even with a kick start.... Pathetic...

The Indian bikes which claim themselves to be equipped with FI are just low quality products which have more problems than benefits... No wonder then both BAJAJ and TVS chucked their FI versions very soon after the launch!! My bike has no proper resale value too since its an FI!! disappointing...

NOTE: The above points dont hold good for the Japs (HONDA, YAM, SUZ, KAW).. as they are international standard and it shows in their performance.... Bikes like CBR and R15 work superbly being FIs..

Please note that I beleive the ABS system provided on RTR 180 for an additional 8K is also sub standard!! Please note that a tech which costs an additional 25K on CBR costs only 8K on RTR!! that shows the quality of the product as a whole and its functionality....

Im happy that the new Pulsar NS is just a carb without a low cost FI variant....

                          Happy Riding :-)

I am still not able to decide between RTR 180 ABS, Pulsar200 NS and Yamaha R15 because in a way they all miss one thing as i love to go on rides from Delhi to Haridwar, Dehradun, Rishikesh and Masuri:- RTR180 ABS dont have a Liquid Cooled Engine for long rides as i think it will heat up for that much of a long ride because i am planning to leave delhi at 4am and ride nonstop from delhi to haridwar on my new bike, Yamaha R15 - Have a low CC engine and doest have a ABS, Pulsar 200NS dont have a FI and ABS. Only one bike (CBR 250) has all that and that is out of my reach as my maximum budget is 1.50lakh and that costs around 1.80lakh.. Bajaj please increase your bike price to 1.50lakh and give me a FI, ABS (as i think it is almost impossible to stop a bike on a wet surface without ABS at a speed more then 60Kmph) and a Nice Fairing plzzzzzzzzzz.

Impossible to stop the bike on a wet surface without ABS at more than 60 kmph!!

What non sense is this!! Its all a myth... ABS does work in providing a little more safety by not locking up thats it!! it doesnt do anything more...

Remember safer and grippier tyres and the surface plays a big role than the brakes and ABS!!

I have seen very successful all terrain bikers with only drums front and back!!

Given your choice of bikes chose Pulsar 200 NS as it beats R15 in value for money and RTR with a much better overall product!!

                            Happy Riding :-)

I did not get why this point came in here for P200NS pricing. And I am not sure why 220 DTSFi was stopped. I'd driven that n its one of the best machines Iv ever driven in my life. If you can just remind me why they stopped 220 DTSFi. Some ppl say that its not stopped but is made on demand. Not sure about. it. Cat con is lil expensive AFAIK.

I would say that D200 has oversized tyre and I suppose that could also be a solid reason in its lower FE compared to P200NS apart from some tech differences.

Now coming to the main point. Im estimating the prices since Iv no idea of exact prices by any means.
I dont think they are saving 15k for Fi over carb. 12k would do it. AFAIR isn't the difference between RTR 160 & RTR 160 Fi just 6-7K? isn't the super overpriced version of Stunner Fi 10k more expensive than the carb? I don't knw why it was 15k previously in case of DTSFi but it should be around 12k. yes they are saving good in SOHC and using heavier parts(& not aluminium) for the swing arm and some body parts which are cheaper. I dont think they must be saving much in the thinner forks.
Do remember they are paying more for 2extra spark plugs ~500rs more
They are also saving in front Disc brakes. For Duke its 2-pot 300mm caliber compared to single pot floating 280mm Dic for NS.

But in total the savings would never be 50K. It should be in the tune of 35-36K from my approximations I have listed. In reality we can just make approximations but it is very difficult to ascertain the differences.

The real difference is keeping the KTM shareholders happy for Duke while thats not the case with Pulsar!! simple...

                              Happy Riding :-)

honda uses c-abs,which is different than rtr abs in fuctionality.
rtr 's abs provides basic anti-lock mechanism with rear wheel lift protection.
c-abs of honda provides basic anti lock mechanism with a exclusive feature ,in which if you press rear break same amount of pressure gets apllied on the front brake, resulting in more stable braking with lesser stopping distance.
