Comparing the prices of Duke 200 and 390 at the places where it's launched already..the media says it should be around 40-60K Rs extra only. Which makes it around 2.2 or 2.3L on road price. But honestly speaking, I don't know how they will manage it but I've got some gut feeling it would surely be below 2.3L

For eg. In UK 200 costs 4195 GBP = 3,47,797 Rs while 390 is 4500 GBP = 3,73,084 Rs. So the difference comes out = 25287Rs only. Seriously??

    Lets try Austria..200 is for 4698 Eu = 3,32,762 Rs while 390 is for 5298 Eu = 3,75,261 Rs. So what's the difference..? oh it's 42,499 only..?

So by the looks of it..since it's made in India..I don't think the cost can go over 2.2-2.3L OTR. But I'm not from KTM so can't do anything if they launch it at higher price

The brakes & tyre profile is exactly the same as that of D200?? Shouldn't it have a better brakes than D200? Or is this Cost saving technique

It is not a launch more of a PR activity of taking the Auto Journo fraternity for first ride. No xBhp is not there

And its happening in India like they did with Duke 200 where you guys were present? That means launch is very much round the corner.

                    • Just got a mail from KTM Langford, that they are organizing an event colled DO IT YOURSELF, where they bring an KTM engineer and we can can blow out all the questions on him. As a part of that event, they are also gonna share product updates on RC8 and D390. So, hope I get enough info about D390 and post it here.
                      KTM Lover,

As far as I know braking also depends on the weight distribution and momentum of the bike and since the weights of D200 and D390 are almost the same, it shouldn't be a problem. The brakes for D200 are more than enough to stop it and with the addition of Metzelers (to D390) it would give a good result despite the 390's insane acceleration.

we can take it for touring and it is effortless.

recently i did a Mumbai to Delhi to Mumbai trip on my duke 200 in just 4 days of riding with riding her for 10 hours each day.
and this bike didn't tire me very much.

so, i can say D390 would be more suitable for touring considering its extra power which can be used in emergency situations and for whole day running.

The only problem would be the range due to small fuel tank.
My Duke 200 gives me a range of 270-300kms on full tank in high revving of running.

But bike is very comfortable overall.
Thanks for this piece of info brother. My biggest doubt about KTM has been, can it tour without torturing my back, coz of its racy riding position. I have been an Enfield rider and whatever we may complain, Enfields are super comfortable mile munchers. Riding position is neutral and it goes on, of course rather in a lazy beat. Off late, itching to shift to a faster machine. Hence I have been following 390 very closely. Very mixed bag of opinion about Duke 200's touring capability. I realize the skeptical ones are the people who never toured on Duke. All the people who did it, were giving thumps up. Thanks again. You brought me closer to 390.

Duke has very upright seating position, not at all racing. The seat is quite hard so your bum will get stiff after some time, but your back will be OK because the seating position is very comfortable.
I did few 12 hour long rides and many shorter ones, and I don't get tired on a Duke, my back doesn't hurt at all after long rides. The engine is also completely OK even after riding it for hours at 110-135 kmh speeds.

The biggest "problem" is that the wind blast gets uncomfortable at speeds higher than 120 kmh, but just little bit of leaning forward makes it much better.

So, I too can recommend Duke 200 for touring, it's an excellent machine, not just for a city ride. And it's completely stable at higher 120+ kmh speeds. Not as stable as CBR 250 which is much heavier and is basically a touring bike, but stable nevertheless.

Some reviews mentioned Duke 390 is also stable even at very high speeds, 150+ kmh.
And KTM will offer bigger wind shield as a power part, which will make it a much sweeter machine for touring.

                              • I don't mind if its stable only till 150kmph, that's enough for me. There shouldn't be any issues below 150k. Will manage the wind blast and all.
