    Review from mcn.com.au
It's a very positive review and I expect the bike to be the same for India. To save manufacturing and production costs I doubt anything other than the rear preload setting being a little softer to be changed for the India model.By the way official bookings have started in Mumbai dealerships with 20000 to 40000 as the booking amount.official pricing still unannounced. Deliveries commencing in June....

Good Find. The review clearly gives thumbs up on few qualities that KTM is learning from Bajaj. It clearly mentions about quality mass production. Now only if the Indian customer recognizes this part, Bajaj will be able to gain good market share.

KTM has huge gap between D200 and D390, and Bajaj will most definitely eyeing that spot if not KTM, to induce more Pulsars in the Market. so may be a 250CC or 300CC in pipeline - assuming that, it will be D300 (and a faired version of this will also make it to India)

current market pri ce of D200 - 130k
            faired D200 - 145k (130k + 15k)

D250 - 170k (assuming, it will be priced 25k more than the faired version of D200)
            faired D250 - 185k (170k + 15k)

now comes the D390 - 25k premium to D300 faired version
            D390 - 210k
faired D390 - 230k (20k more than the naked version)

all the prices above are ex-showroom and purely imaginative (but looks close to the market expectation though).

you guys can share your thoughts on this.

well i think that ktm must have given a very good thought and have come out with 390 at the end to take on diretly the N300 and the coming honda boys.the D200 with its top speed of 138kmph is already a winner over r15 in terms of speed and performance and over the cbr 250 in terms of pricing.all ktm needed now was to eye the premium market segment with the players being N300( which has been there since ages), the new honda boys and also the hyosung one.so duke 390 with its top speed of 170 kmph i think is the final deal with no intermediate series in between i.e D250 or 290.having said this i think same goes for bajaj too.and as stated they will be coming with a higher capacity in line with ktm as economies of scale will tilt in thier favour not to mention the r&d which would have gone into the making of D390.this is just my view but i do agree with you on the pricing around 2l mark.hope we are right and that this baby is launched at the right price to please all the buyers and fans.

Like I had mentioned earlier bookings started in Mumbai officially. South mumbai ktm taking bookings rs.40000 and kanjurmarg taking bookings for rs.20000. Both are not confirming the price yet...I was also told apart from abs n Metzeler tyres, handguards in white are standard on the bike.

Regarding the performance of D390, don't you guys think that 12.9:1 compression ratio is a bit too high to be running on 91 octane petrol. Doing a "Five-point-something" 0-100 time on 91-octane petrol with such a high compression ratio seems a bit difficult to me.

The bike has been kept pretty much standard for all 76 markets where it is gonna be exported to (apart from minor suspension changes). I doubt all 76 markets have 97 octane petrol or whether they'll have different engine maps fit different markets

Which means we might not see the blistering performance many are expecting. A sub-7 second 0-100 time would still be great but the expectations have really been set very high. We can only wait for the indian reviews for the time being .

i agree with you completely on this.it would be really taxing to manufacture the bike at one place and then have different fuel mapping for different fuel grades because of the markets involved.and imagine the chaos created if there are 3sets of maps and say a country having different grades of fuel available.all racing enthusiasts would like to upgrade making it a nightmare for SVC and eventually complaints start building up .

I think I misunderstood your comment. I believe what you wanted to say is that KTM must have deemed such high compression ratio fit for 91 octane petrol. I really hope that is the case. But I am a bit skeptical The handguard thing, if true, is GOOOOOOD NEWS!!!!

Yes in other words I believe the bike designed for normal fuel. The handguards are an option on the 200 Duke in the range of rs.5300. Money saved is money earned. .. to spend on other power parts or accessories!
