Re: Nepal prices out
I read that article some time back... since the duty in Nepal for CBUs is 100+% it translates to around less than 2.5L on road. .. same as the Speculated Indian priceOriginally posted by sudhi View PostDeville,

Guyzzz Breaking newzzz :
An insider who is my cousin (first /second & last) working for Bajaj-KTM told me that the launch is tomorrow since its ascension day in Austria. I cant take his name but the newz is 110% confirmed. Aaaaaaiiiii-shapathhh
My friend's friend who's is close to Rahul/Rajiv/Sonia Bajaj assured me that price will be within 2 Lacks only.
I just called up Nalasoparaa PBK (Mumbai) and they informed they are already giving the Duke 390 for test-ride and taking bookings for Rs 5.
P.S. - please don't believe any of the above news . Its an enthusiasts frustration after reading so many worthless/useless speculation.

re: KTM Duke 390 Review & first impression: xBhp Exclusive
a quick comparison with ninja 650 (as 300 is not what i expect to get after spending 5 lac Rs):
390 vs 650
2.5 lac vs 6 lac
160 kmph vs 200 kmph
goes easily till 140 kmph vs goes 180 kmph (attainable speeds on short straight, after which speedo starts to trickle, as per youtube videos)
5.5 sec to 100 vs 4.2 sec to 100
150 kg vs 210 kg
good equipment on both (metzeler, abs vs bridgestone, fairing, wind protection)
44 bhp vs 72 bhp.
satisfying handling on both
relatively simple looks vs superbike looks (thats how an average person thinks because of fairing and big size. the people because of whom you cant park ninja every where. duke's 200 alike looks are a plus in my books as it will attract less attention). also i dont have access to garage as i am a bachelor living in rented appartment.
somehow even value for money 650 looks too expensive against 2.5 lac. to me it makes most sense in Indian conditions. now to strap a thick pillow on its thin seat, source a windscreen from anywhere possible and turn it into comfy tourer as well.

First we don't know how much the ktm 390 will be priced.
Second the ktm is a noisy bike at high revs unlike the Ninjas.
Third you cant run away from it's tiny tank. Refueling every 200kms is just plain annoying on a bike which can do 150kmph so easily.
The ninja 300 and 650 can comfortably do 300kms before they need a fill up.Regardless, Life shall go on.

may be this is what you have to do:
D690 vs N650
6.5 lac vs 6 lac
190 kmph vs 200 kmph
150 kg vs 210 kg
67 bhp vs 72 bhp.

May be I can help here, as I own the 650 and have also ridden a friends KTM 200 for a fair distance.Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View Posta quick comparison with ninja 650 (as 300 is not what i expect to get after spending 5 lac Rs):

It is unfair to compare the both, the 650 is pakka sports tourer, the cruising ability of the 650 and its ride comfort is unmatched. Where the 650 fails badly is its weight, it is heavy and tiring to ride in stop and go traffic. I look at the duke as a strictly city bike with its short gearing [The 390 should be better in this aspect over the 200]. The KTM 200 that I rode feels at home in the city rather than the highway, the KTM isnt as sure footed as the 650 at triple digit speeds, the 650 is like a train on rails, it wont move an inch even in heavy cross winds, the KTM just isn't confidence inspiring on the highways. Finally the twin cylinder's are something else on the long stretches and even after riding it in full blast mode will never complain, they just love being revved. I am 5.10 and I find the KTM tiny compared to the 650.
All I would say is both the bikes complement each other and both could co-exist in the same garage
.
I am planning to get the Duke 390 just for my daily office rides

re: KTM Duke 390 Review & first impression: xBhp Exclusive
Of course its not a fair comparison. but as a buyer these are closest and sort of most complete packages available in India. there are other bikes between these two but are either too expensive or not so good quality. imo these two are top choices if you are interested in 2-5 lac range. thus the comparison.Originally posted by bprags View PostMay be I can help hear, as I own the 650 and have also ridden a friends KTM 200 for a fair distance.

re: KTM Duke 390 Review & first impression: xBhp Exclusive
GUYS the official Bookings OPEN banners of the 390 have started reaching the showrooms. I was lucky to be in one of the showrooms in Delhi when they received the banner. However, they are not putting them up just yet.
According to sales rep, the 390 will be launched simultaneously worldwide and bikes will be available at all showrooms the same day of the launch a.l.a Apple Style.
Guess the launch is not far away. However, I think atleast a 15 day gap will be there between the official bookings open and the launch day.

re: KTM Duke 390 Review & first impression: xBhp Exclusive
I would like to state the top end of the duke is 170 kmph unless u r v heavy and a free flow kn...akra powerpart slip on exhaust and a windscreen should work wonders for relatively cheaper! And being light and flick able with awesome tyres should make knee down cornering a force of habit!Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View PostOf course its not a fair comparison. but as a buyer these are closest and sort of most complete packages available in India. there are other bikes between these two but are either too expensive or not so good quality. imo these two are top choices if you are interested in 2-5 lac range. thus the comparison.
