Thanks Bro. You have increased my confidence in Duke. I will wait for 390.Originally posted by splus View PostDuke has very upright seating position, not at all racing. The seat is quite hard so your bum will get stiff after some time, but your back will be OK because the seating position is very comfortable.
I did few 12 hour long rides and many shorter ones, and I don't get tired on a Duke, my back doesn't hurt at all after long rides. The engine is also completely OK even after riding it for hours at 110-135 kmh speeds.
The biggest "problem" is that the wind blast gets uncomfortable at speeds higher than 120 kmh, but just little bit of leaning forward makes it much better.
So, I too can recommend Duke 200 for touring, it's an excellent machine, not just for a city ride. And it's completely stable at higher 120+ kmh speeds. Not as stable as CBR 250 which is much heavier and is basically a touring bike, but stable nevertheless.
Some reviews mentioned Duke 390 is also stable even at very high speeds, 150+ kmh.
And KTM will offer bigger wind shield as a power part, which will make it a much sweeter machine for touring.

Im a fellow Bull rider and I too am excited about the KTM390 for the flickability and lightweight! Only if they could launch a KTM '390 Adventure' to follow this up..I'd shut up and give them my moneyOriginally posted by trysantosh View PostThanks for this piece of info brother. My biggest doubt about KTM has been, can it tour without torturing my back, coz of its racy riding position. I have been an Enfield rider and whatever we may complain, Enfields are super comfortable mile munchers. Riding position is neutral and it goes on, of course rather in a lazy beat. Off late, itching to shift to a faster machine. Hence I have been following 390 very closely. Very mixed bag of opinion about Duke 200's touring capability. I realize the skeptical ones are the people who never toured on Duke. All the people who did it, were giving thumps up. Thanks again. You brought me closer to 390.

i am also a fellow bull rider and have been waiting for this one eagerly. I would also love to give them my money without a second thought for an adventure version, BUT i am not going to wait that long. As it is, have been waiting for 390 for almost a year, cant start the wait all over again. So i am going to book the 390 asal, enjoy it till the adventure version is out. Can always exchange it for the later if its makes good sense.
Now KTM, show us the bike!!

I think, D390 is in the sight of many from the RE Clan.

well well well speculations have been going ripe with wishes dime a dozen.
infact been following this thread and other related to 390 right from the very beginning.did the same for 200 ns and must admit that xbhp proved to be a huge factor in the final decision.had thought that would be the end of it but then came a duke and made me sign up with the site.so to think that in some way its time for me to help those visitors who ardently follow the site for real time feedback with a degree of genuineness.must emphasise the fact that the success of the baby largely depends on getting the price spot on as there's no questioning the brand in termsof quality and performance.IMHO a price tag of 2.0 lacs ex would be the icing on the cake and even may tilt me into being a proud owner.hope you guys at ktm marketing are listening

Again another review with the phoren locale and phoren motorcycle (this is the third that's out there)... I would be more interested in having the review done with the India spec bike (it's not that there would be a huge difference, may the rubber and stuff) as that would give us the exact picture of what we are getting.Originally posted by mohitahuja View Post

Thats a bit surprising and and probably an eye opener for RE!Originally posted by trysantosh View PostNasir...I have been a silent reader of your experiments with C500 for a long time in various forums.
I think, D390 is in the sight of many from the RE Clan.
I cannot find much in common between the two apart from the volume. RE owners must be feeling underpowered and board. RE should start making mare HP per cc.

RE bikes are not particularly cheap for what they have to offer. The TB500 actually costs more than CBR250R and weighs a LOT more.Originally posted by kochumvk View PostThats a bit surprising and and probably an eye opener for RE!

The Duke 390 here offers a lot more by comparison for not too much more (speculated) dough.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Bored - No (personally)
Thats why i intend to keep my C5 along with 390. These bikes are poles apart and each have their merit/character. I like RE for its locomotive type of heavy feel, the monentum it generates and its simplicity. gives immense scope to personalize / customize / play around with. for eg, i got rid of my ECU/injector etc, and plonked a BS 32 carb with much ease. May not be that simple with other bikes. Personally, RE is been keeping my busy since 2008, and i am still not bored of it. As ants mentioned, they really are highly overpriced, heavy, cheap quality parts, and underpowered. That is where 390 comes in the scene.
fast, light, nimble, and easy to maneuver around. I intend to use it mostly for daily commuting and short term tours. May even use it for longer rides, provided ergonomics permits.
and its not just me, a lot folks in my RE circle have been eagerly waiting for the 390. Am sure this 390 going to bite a bit in to RE sales as well.

re: KTM Duke 390 Review & first impression: xBhp Exclusive
It's been a treat to see the 390 in action, would be a rock show to actually get hands on it & claim the joy. The 2L ex-showroom tag will definitely bring a boost to it's sales & probably a history in the making
Competition is seemingly getting tighter & tighter.. The N300 is sure gonna attract a lot of attention as it's out early, but most of us would choose to wait it out till the D390 is finally out as well. News relating the launch of the Duke series ( probably 390 & 200 both ) with 2 other versions is something to look forward to too. & then there is the CBR400R series that mite come in to play soon enough... Damn... as much as it's confusing the hell outta me, It's just lovely & awesome to see all these boom in our markets... Totally intriguing & lustful.. worth everything..

re: KTM Duke 390 Review & first impression: xBhp Exclusive
we all know that D220 faired version is on its way to India - which will be priced about 15k more than the naked version
KTM has huge gap between D200 and D390, and Bajaj will most definitely eyeing that spot if not KTM, to induce more Pulsars in the Market. so may be a 250CC or 300CC in pipeline - assuming that, it will be D300 (and a faired version of this will also make it to India)
current market price of D200 - 130k
faired D200 - 145k (130k + 15k)
D250 - 170k (assuming, it will be priced 25k more than the faired version of D200)
faired D250 - 185k (170k + 15k)
now comes the D390 - 25k premium to D300 faired version
D390 - 210k
faired D390 - 230k (20k more than the naked version)
all the prices above are ex-showroom and purely imaginative (but looks close to the market expectation though).
you guys can share your thoughts on this.
