Re: TVS Apache RTR200 4V: First Impressions
Took a TD of the RTR200 4v today. I own a RTR180 ABS form the past 5 years.
A few differences between the 180 and 200 :-
1. The 200 has a seat height of 800mm but it feels shorter than the 180(790mm). Seat is narrow but very very comfortable.
2. The handlebar is more "relaxed" than the 180. TVS has made the 200 more comfort/commuter oriented than the 180.
3. The 200 feels a tad heavy in flicking and changing lanes. (The increased wheelbase and weight maybe the cause.)
4. The clutch is a bit heavy compared to the 180.
5. TVS Remora tyres of the 200 are very good.
6. The 200 is too wide compared to the 180. The tank is super wide but can accommodate only 12L of fuel.(Weird!!)
7. The 200 feels stable doing good speeds on slightly broken roads. Suspension are nicely set-up.
A few points which stands out:-
1. The engine is extremely smooth. Never imagined an RTR can be this smooth!
2. The exhaust sound is bassy but it goes silent as the speed climbs.
3. The dealer had disconnected the speed cable of the TD bike, on purpose! Found out a new feature: The "Race ON" turned into a message which read "Check speedometer cable". That left me wondering as to what else it can sense and display the errors.I found this particularly interesting.
4. I was shifting at 9-9.5k rpm, there was no vibrations , maybe very little on the rider foot peg. To give a comparison, I rode as pillion to the TVS dealer on a CBR150R and was a pillion on the RTR200 for the first leg of the TD and the RTR had even less vibrations than the CBR.
5. Coming to heating. My friend and I did ride the bike hard, shifting at 9k or so. After the end of the TD, the bike's engine was not very hot.
Like, if RTR180 is ridden with the same way, it would be real hot, standing two or three feet away one could feel the heat of the engine. This was not the case with the RTR 200. I stood near the bikes engine to feel the heat but it was not much. Many people debate about oil cooling and liquid cooling, TVS might done cost cutting with oil cooling and the bike might not have a feature. But the 200 runs way way cooler than RTR180.
My TD experience has mixed feeling, the bike feels extremely familiar but different. The bike accelerates quick but does not have that RTR vibrations, that RTR vibrations which made the RTR180 and 160 feel quick. The added weight and wheelbase makes the bike feel a tad lethargic but more stable.
The RTR 200 is definitely a new generation but a generation towards refinement, comfort and stability rather than outright performance.

Every person who owns Apache prev will appreciate this bike comparing to prev one. Never seen Bajaj 200 cc rider giving same good review.Originally posted by vivekgautams View PostTook a TD of the RTR200 4v today. I own a RTR180 ABS form the past 5 years.
I have been riding my frnd Apache 180 for long rides, after I TD this bike I felt they have made much better n I was like "VOW! is that same RTR series".

When the RTR200 was launched, my friend told me "I expected better power figures.. Pulsar has much more power" after today's TD he told me "I love this bike".Originally posted by Harideep View PostEvery person who owns Apache prev will appreciate this bike comparing to prev one. May be its the mind set that riders have preset even before TDing the bike.
Anyways, why would any one who owns and rides a 200 will TD and buy another 200?? Maybe if TVS launched a RTR 300 then you would have got reviews from P200 owners
No matter what anyone says or reviews, it is you who has to decide as to which bike you want to live with.

Re: TVS Apache RTR200 4V: First Impressions
Hey guys,
Took a test ride of Apache RTR 200 at bharath TVS, jayanagar, Bangalore.
Only carb- TVS tires was there for TD.
It's riding position and the view from cockpit made me smile.
The seats are very plush and comfortable.
Zero vibrations observed in test ride.
Bike looks crazily good. But the fuel tank being a 3 piece plastic made me sad whenever I touch it:P
Brakes are amazing and TVS tires are exceptionally good.
However, I felt the bike to be underpowered and not as torquey as rtr 180.
I own a Honda dazzler and I'm not a speed/power enthusiast at all.
But I still found it to be underpowered.
It might be because I had my healthy friend as a pillion.
Apart from that i loved everything.
The OTR price for carb pirelli is ₹115000.
FI availability is unknown to the dealer. So abs is also unknown.
The dealer has already sold some 6 to 9 bikes it seems.
Lot of bookings have taken place for TVS apache rtr 200 carb. But no supply from factory yet is what the ppl at showroom told.
I want to test ride FI bike once and then check the bike's power again.
I am planning to buy the abs version of this bike in July for my birthday.
But after feeling it as underpowered I am confused.
I badly want to to test ride an FI rtr 200.

That's a few months away mate. Fi versions are being produced for international markets first not for domestic market.Originally posted by roamer View PostThat's good to know. Hoping the top version launches also , the FI and ABS one.
Fi+ABS+Pirelli may take 4 months time from now.
