  • Re: Haunted Roads and Highways to avoid?

    Hey Guys,

Though I have never encountered any such ghosts ever, I have always loved the scary stories.

I would like to tell an incident that happened some 2-3 years back. I was in college then and lived in Bhopal. Now, there is a road in Bhopal, JK road which had many such stories associated with it. Currently the area has been developed and there's vehicles passing through that road day and night, but 8-9 years back this road just had beer factories and some heavy machinery factories on both sides. I moved into my new house in 2002 and had to cross that road nearly everyday. But I was always aware of the stories. So this thing happened 2-3 years back.

We have a neighbouring family with a daadi(grandmother) and her married sons living in the same house. One of them is in RPF and occasionally comes home late night. One day when he was returning around 2 AM in the night he had to cross this JK road. It's near about 4Km stretch. Just as he came on this patch of the road he felt someone was sitting behind him on the bike. And then he doesn't remember anything. He came into senses when he entered my colony. There is an old Hanuman temple at the entrance of the colony. Just as he reached this spot he regained his senses. He rushed to his home and wake up everyone in the house. He was shivering and he was so scared that he started crying in Dadi's lap. Believe me guys, a grown man (married with two kids) crying in his mother's lap, that must have been some intense experience. My mom told this incident to me next day.

I remember my parents telling me to carefully drive if I ever experience any such thing. Such spirits or ghosts , whatever we like to call them, haunts at certain places only. Once you cross that patch you are safe.

Yep. Sometimes we drive unconsciously but our mind doesn't sleep at that time. Right? Subconsciously we are aware that we are riding.

I would have trolled others by writing on my wall: "Oh sthree, dayacesi taruvata intiki velli" (I think that means Oh lady, please go to the next house)

The most haunted roads, according to me, are places within city, where people have been harassed unnecessarily by cops by false charges

Apart from that, had a spooky experience at Solapur highway while riding car from Pune to HYD. Experienced by co-passenger though, i have never seen any, felt any apparition or anything (unless you count Z horror show and Aahat as a haunting experience)

had a uneasy time when driving from masinagudi to moyar throug a dense forest road around 10 in the night. i was acccompanied by 2 other freinds in their bikes. we were actually brave before we started. the resort manager where we stayed warned us to avoid that route but we decided to try. it was around 20km to and fro, the panic set in us after entering the forest. wind was cloud, gusty and there was a feeling someone pushing u down from bike. apart from that enconturing a elephant or a big cat increased our panic. at one instance where there was a slope and at particular stretch the road was surrounded by dense bamboo and we felt as if we were not return back. while coming back, we encountered a deer, bison and our fears of elephant came true when we see a giant in middle of the road and we stopped at a safe distance and the giant was back into the forest.

After returning to the resort, we reliazed the spooky experience was due to the mindset, darkness, unknown road, forest and nothing else. And a early morning ride to the same route made us relaize what a great place it was surrounded by trees and absolutely amazing. i said to myself no way this is not a haunted road.

Well i wont term it haunted but, When one is going to sinhagad fort from pune , we take a right turn to a village road from NH4 atleast thats what my map told me
Next thing i remember is chanting every broken hymn or verse i can posssibly recall. The road is covered with dense trees on both sides and suddenly there is no road at all, just stone path like medieval ages, no car or even a animal in sight. At this moment mobile playing lean on feels excessively alarming .
After 5 -6 kms spotted a person walking with a torch, somehow prayed heaven above for him to be human, Lucky i was , he was a human.
sometime after that a ford ecosport came along and i stuck to it like glue
But later he gained speed but i couldnt keep up ( steep climbs + broken roads + low power bike )
I cannot state how devastating i felt, this is how people feel when they leave soldiers in battlefield to die

Somehow i made it to Fort and Came to know this route is not taken due to its horrible state as well as haunted stories related to it.
Twist in the tale is , i couldnt find that ecosport that i was following anywhere in parking lot.
Oh yeah i went on this trip somewhere around 4-5am.

We usually do night outs on a regular basis nearby Dehradun with some good buddies. Once we made a night out plan for Lumbi Dehar Mines to spend some good time with drinks and bonfire. We visited that place around 4Pm. That place comes under most haunted places in india(if anyone curious about what is lumbi dehar). That place is left isolated and even nearest village is few miles away.
So the funny story starts from here, we parked our vehicles and started making arrangements for wood blocks for fire setup. Nearly 1 hour passed by making all the arrangements. Sun was already down. Interesting part of that place is sense of negativity surrounds you as soon the sun sets. I have a group of some gutsy people, so were hoping that it will go fine. Time passed by and were having fun time and jokes. It was arond 8.45pm and we were cooking our food on fire as a CHAKNA. Our plan was to start with the drinks once the food is ready, suddenly we heard a loud THUD sound. We just got a mini heart attack with our heart beating as if it will come out. We were scared enough but still managed to check it out what was that. We were all together as no one had guts to checkout on its own. There was one big iron pillar lying down few meters away. We cheked it out it was all rusted. We were in a double mind whether to continue or leave that place.
We decided to leave that place as soon as possible.
We never encountered any such incidents before, we were thankful to god that nothing bad happened.
I still visit that place, but never had guts to stay there after dusk.
