I don't think anyone of you here might have come across as humorous as this.... This was almost a year back, when I stopped for a tea break at a village I have some kids coming to me and saying.... NICE BODY ANNA .

Have really saved my self quiet a lotta times because of wearing proper gear even for a normal commute to office . Had a crash 2 days back coz of some silly kids suddenly coming on the road .
Urgent braking ended in a stoppie and a car behind me kissing my bikes rear portion

Well, a geared up rider is now a common sight in B'lore. Nice! Anyway, being geared up means you are the centre of attention wherever you go. Safety+cool! So much win! I hope the poser community is noticing how we get so much attention on the road and start gearing up themselves(to attract attention), so at least they will be safer that way!

          Tinted visors:
          Pros -
-You feel secure and sheltered from all the glares
-You get to check out girls(who may or may not be checking you out)

          Cons -
          -Bloody useless at night

Anyway, I have firsthand experience of being the 'uninformed'.... ie.. when I was in 8th/9th std(about 2007/2008), I saw a group of geared up riders near GKVK(with motocross style jacket with external armor) and I really thought that they were a bunch of racers who were going to a racing venue. I tried to follow them on my bicycle, but obviously that was a futile attempt.

But now, as a more mature rider, I know the role and significance of riding gear. But as a kid, the only thing that came to my mind when I saw geared up riders was "hardcore racers". Thats probably what comes to the mind of those who do not know about riding gear.

PS: I think Indian movies should be sued whenever they show people riding bikes without helmets on(let alone other gears). It influences the mentality of youngsters deeply and makes them think that imitating Uday Chopra is cool. I hope John Abrahams movie on bikes educates the youngsters more on the spirit of biking and safe riding.

In Kerala a new rule has been passed by The Kerala Transport and Road Safety Commissioner Mr. Rishiraj Singh that helmet while riding 2-wheelers and seat belt while driving a car is mandatory in the films. Actors riding without helmet and driving without seat belt will land in trouble.

I was waiting on the roadside for a friend of mine, tying the laces of one of my shoes, when this group of 4-5 junior college students come along.
They were laughing about something and one of them looked straight at me.
Our eyes met and he stopped laughing. His friend looked at me too and stopped.
At this point of time, it was worth noting my looks- I had gloves on only one hand, black nail polish, riding jacket and knee guards, and my helmet on me.
So, I put on my meanest voice and say,'Something wrong?'
You should've seen the look on their faces!
The whole group shut up as if I was some kind of criminal overlord 😂
They then proceeded to walk away, very quickly!

Another time I stopped near a man and his friend. The rider had gloves. The pillion proceed to observe my gear most carefully and then advised his friend to buy the rest of it, since it would allow him to fall with impunity! 😂

On the occasion of annual gathering in my college, the organizers asked me to perform stunt show. Why?Just because I go ATGATT daily to college.
I lean my bike into the corners in the campus , have earned a reputation ( or notoriety?) for that, and they think its a stunt :banghead:

                          1.
It happened few days after they announced that drag-racing & pulling stunts on public roads(BLR) will be heavily penalised if caught.

I was riding casually towards E-City(BLR) from Bommanahalli side. Noticed a black Pulsar 220 in front of me, well maintained. I started admiring it & couldn't help myself from tailing it between signals. Rider was a stout(85-90 kg) guy wearing catchy gloves & a T-shirt if I recall correctly. We rode following rules and kept speed well under what was specified on sign-posts by the road. I was just tailing him, he looked calm & wasn't intimidated.

All of sudden cars on rightmost lane cars started crawling as if their engine broke down. He(pulsar rider) took leftmost lane went ahead while I managed to zig-zag between four wheelers on rightmost lane. I looked ahead to locate him only to find a Traffic Police(TP) asking him pull over. I was like `WatDaFaq`, what did he do?
Saw him talking to TP while taking out his documents. I felt sorry for him, it reminded me of how much I hate random checks.
That's not it, I reached E-City(Konappana-Agrahara) signal, stopped on Red. Another TP talking over his Motorola Walkie-Talkie(Radio) is checking out all the bikes. I was like `WatDaFaq`. He was looking for another guy & it was me! Crappy communication(description) must have spared me. I rode ahead on Green.

PS: couple of days back noticed speed cameras(not interceptors) were in place somewhere near Hosa-Road.

                          2.
I've a spare helmet at home for an occasional pillion. When a family member ask for a ride into city, I explain them what might happen upon an accident & offer them helmet. They accept reluctantly as most of them are wearing it for the first time.

Jee, the looks you get for having a pillion with helmet on, it's annoying; esp at signals.

But Bhai you may not believe, I for one respect them.
In my native (Kolkata) its a must for both the people to wear helmet and apparently they are quite strict.

Last I remember a lady was travelling in Activa with most probably her Kid (around 4-5yrs old) and he too had a small cute (globe) helmet .
I thought of stopping and appreciating her but left it there because of obvious reasons ...

The most classic case I remember was in Salem(TN) when we were going for last years Kodai ISG2G, some person came and pricked an xbhpian's jacket to see if he was human or ET. He had lots of questions for him but I forgot the Xbhpians name.
