  • Re: How do people react seeing you Geared Up?

My friend who mocks me for wearing mid calf boots received a bad burn just over the ankle from hot silencer today, it could have been easily avoided if he was wearing boots. Maybe it's my time to laugh now
    I am back!

Here's my experience riding with gears. First off, once you have jacket, gloves and boots, you are most easily noticed on the road. Some maniacs(who don't even have a helmet) begin to cut lanes and become speed freaks tempting you to race with them. I just ignore such poor souls. Other sane riders, even car drivers at times, take a deep look at all your gears and stuff when you stop at a traffic light, kinda creepy Kids become overjoyed to just see you ride past them and smile at you and many often mistake you for a racer than a rider. Perhaps because they don't know what a race suit actually looks like.

The best reaction is that of the kids.
Once while cruising down the highway, a team of 2 tourist buses filled with kids going to some field trip was there in front of us (group of 4 riders, all geared up and in formation)

They got so overjoyed of seeing us the started clapping and cheering and what not, but obviously they thought we were racers and were asking us to ride fast and overtake them in style and all. But nonetheless we stuck to our speed limits and formation, at a signal where we came in parallel with the buses, they kids started shouting that they have become great fans of us. It was a really great moment to be in ,
for once people were happy seeing us geared up and not the usual stares.
Another incident was again a funny one, when we were touring in Karnataka on the way to bandipur i think, we were crossing a city area and were moving at snails pace because of the havoc at city traffic, in the sidelines there were 3 girls who were checking us out and giggling among themselves, each person pointing to different one of us. Now i don't know if they were impressed or cracking jokes at out expense, whatever it was, it was a good experience.

They were mocking you! They were most probably discussing - "if only they spent so much on us, they'd have had a pillion by now"

          Kidding.

didnt get appropriate thread for this...

it has been more than a year since i rode. just a couple of days ago i got my D390. yesterday i did a 250km ride. The look on other road users was just awesome.
i was almost in full gears. except knee guards.

but just after 150 kms i had buttock pain, knee joint pain and wrist pains. any ideas? any thing to do mentally or is it because of my ride absence for long? or is it due to D 390 posture / hard seats?

discussion would be really appreciated. anyone been through such...?

I think the wrist pain is caused because you may have put a lot of pressure on the handlebar and held it tightly. A loose grip of the handlebar might help. Haven't heard of knee pain before but buttock pain is sure to stay unless you take regular breaks or modify the seat. I ride around 50 kms ( 25 kms a side) and still have buttock pain.

Buddy please ask the same question on 390 ownership thread. A lot more people will be able to respond to it then.
Other than adjusting to the posture taking regular breaks of 5-10 mins will help. Also physical fitness plays an important role here. Regular exercise and workout always helps.

A month back, I rode to my native. I was wearing jacket, shoes, helmet and gloves. When I crossed a toll( near some village), a person over there said to another person that Actor Ajith is crossing him. I never knew whether it was sarcasm or he meant it really!

If its for sarcasm, then most of people think only celebrities or racing persons should wear riding gears.

deep down in my heart , it says, its all due to my lack of physical fitness and nil exercise. got to start jogging and exercising in mornings... cant be D 390 s problem as many are doing miles on it...

On my P150 i was able to do 150kms non stop, and i felt for breaks only after 200kms mostly. that depended on my preparation too... i guess...

Well people just stare at me wherever I go, some ask the usual dont you feel hot?
, are you going for a race?
The kids when they see me, are filled with joy, they cheer rather than curiously stare at me and I always wave when I ride past them
Once I went to a G2G, while returning everybody took a break at a place, there were few super bikers there. A tempo driver comes up to me and asks, are you guys going for a race?
I said, no we are just riding.
Then he said why do you wear these( pointing at my jacket and gloves), you just ride an apache.
I was pissed, but I just said I wear these because accident doesnt care if you are riding a 1000 cc or a100 cc bike, it will hurt u no matter what you're riding.

Seriously what if I ride an apache, I should wear proper riding gears.
