Re: How do people react seeing you Geared Up?

Yesterday afternoon I went on a ride to TVM which is about 100 KMs from where I'm located. Ride was through NH47 and on reaching Kollam, which is about 30 Kms from starting point, had to encounter a blockade as there was some 'march' of the Congress party.

In this slow moving traffic two guys on their P220 came close to me. As I was wearing my gloves, shoes and balaclava under the helmet with the inner tinted visor pulled down they were quite interested in 'who I am'. They sometimes came too close to me to have a look see at my face. I could feel these guys' eyes trying to 'find a face' inside the helmet.

When after sometime their efforts were proven fruitless they began making some obscene comments to make me look bad. Then they were wondering 'out loud' that "when they were not wearing helmets and their identity is shown out publicly these cops stop them and charge them, not when this guy with his face and hands covered!"

    My thinking: "Meh!"

[Of course, the rider didn't have a helmet.]

LOL!! Maybe you could have said: WARNING: Gruesome images, those MORONS
On a lighter note, it kinda feels good to build up the mystery. Kids near my flat tend to come near me and wonder things - some say he is going to perform KARATA (actual=KARATE); I have absolutely no idea, what makes them feel so, thanks to my LS2 with tinted visor and a pair of Gloves
And I am actually thinkin' of performin' the KARATA someday or maybe not, Oh my!!!!

The roadside pan vala has this usual stuff to offer, " kya Sir, aj fir racing pe jaa rahe ho kya??". I smile and say, "Nahi dost yahi bagal me jaa raha hu, Pune"....

A guy in my office keeps on blabbering, "Yaar tu chalata 180cc ki bike hai and that to fully geared? Whats the point??"..... I say, "bhai, admi to cycle se bhi gir sakta hai...!!"
A cold hamburger can be reheated quite nicely by strapping it to an exhaust pipe and riding forty miles.......... Live 2 Ride /m\\

          Give him a example !

My big bro's friend was sitting on a bike while talking to a friend who's standin next to him.

He was wearing formal shoes (formal shoes have flat surface we all know).
The gravel below shoe surface somehow rolled, the bike leaned onto left side while the shoe kept on slipping & cheated him by not able to control the fall.

          Nothing happened !
Just a normal bike tilted that too bike was Off.

A pointed gravel hit him direct on the side on head.
Doctor did some surgery and hospital bill was near 70-80k !

          Luck can betray anytime.

People think wearing gloves knee pads and stuff as showoff and few feel its over safety measurement but trying be safe is always good

                  +1 to that...

Now a days I have to show my gloves which has got minor scratches during a very minor crash (at 10Kmph, thanks to the Santro wala who opened the front right door right in front of my bike) and tell them how the gloves saved the skin of my hand.

Guys please help me out in selecting a riding jacket, mostly for city use and my budget is around 5-6k, booked duke390 and waiting for delivery.( meanwhile I narrowed down my option to Zeus all terrain jacket). This will be my first riding gear other than helmet so please help me out in finding a perfect one.

PPl ask me "Why do you use gloves during riding ? necessary ?" and think I am a show off . Only bikers know the value of riding gears . A helmet , jacket and gloves is enough to make you look like a alien or what so ever .

This is what I wear when I am doing Motogymkhana, Komine textile jacket with removable shoulder, elbow+forearm ,spine , neck protectors, Komine textile pants with hip, butt, thigh, knee protectors on the inside, HJC full face helmet, Komine gauntlets (longer than gloves, These extend up past your wristwatch)
the steelcap boots (my work boots) scrape on turns easier than my running shoes.
Boots if I'm going on a ride, Joggers if its just around town at 40kph speeds.
Downside to this gear is it is damn hot, Esp when doing the courses as we are in 1st gear around 20kph. On a cruise where we are going quicker its not so bad.

There are some riders who turn up wearing sandals, thongs/flipflops, croc's and sometimes they are lucky and not get injured, other times they need a squirt of Iodine from our first aid kits. I rather be prepared for the fall, not the ride.

Had a funny experience on a recent ride.... had stopped at a village tapri for chai.... a old man came to me.. pointed at the knee guards and jacket and asked what are they... I explained him... he touched the shoulder and elbow guard in the jacket.... then the obvious question... For how much... I told him the price... a long stare.... Why waste many.... sit at home and relax.... spend money buy this... and then spend on petrol to ride.... in this much you can have a nice grl in your city... we both had a hearty laugh.... loved the genuity of the conversation..... (Entire conversation was in Marathi)...

Once when we club members were going for a group ride we stopped at a KFC and had some food over there and started from there. While we were gearing up the service personnel came and asked whether we were racers!!! We told him that we are not racers rather we are just riders!! When riders gear up most of the people think we are going for racing and stuff!!! ;-) :-P

                              Cheers!!!!

Well, I have been paying a girl to be my girlfriend and it's working out great so far :P

I don't have much riding gears but whenever I go out wearing them, people ask me if I get hot or not? My reply is "Main toh hot hi hoon beta, yeh sob toh main mujhe dekh ke ladki fida ho na jaye, is liye pehenta hoon." lol imagine this coming out of a big time loser :P I fractured my wrist accidentally few days ago as I fell from stairs at college, now my classmates mock me saying "Yeh sab pehenne ke baad bhi haath tuta"
                                I am back!
