P.s: I am 100% sure the phone hasnt had a fall....
Were you wearing a jeans ? As far as i have heard, Top line galaxies don't handle stress very well.

Display would have broken due to the stress exerted when you keep the phone in tight pant pockets and sit around.

I had posted in some forum to take care when stuffing the phone in tight pant pockets. Especially wnen you go a Ride. AFAIK, the display needs to be changed and try to get in touch with the Sammy centre. 99% you will have to pay out of your pocket.

Let us know the price too...

Why dont you try which is something not Nokia for a time ? Lets give time for Nokia to grow up and give us some real all around product. Investing 20 K+ on a nokia ? i will not advise now. Too soon to be outdated with the already out dated 680 Mhz processor.

Get a real performance phone ;-)

Man you got a point there . I need a mobile with good camera (8 mp and above) and awesome music quality . Budget 20k . Any suggestions ?

I would still suggest N8. It is a below average smartphone, I totally agree. But you said your focus is Camera and music, right? Then, N8 is the best Camera+Music combo you can have.
I also own a N8 and you can directly ask questions by PM'ing me, etc.

@ gp_freak: While it might appear that other phones are getting mighty high on usability and specs both, even today if you want the best Music+Camera combination, you'll have to stick with N8.
It's Still Camera goes way above what other devices come up with, and music quality (earphones) is almost the same as best of the competition, tests show.

Take Galaxy SII for example- excellent phone, superfast interface and the Android world, but only an 8 MP Cam, that too not with a very large lens. Video recording still records audio in Mono format.

Also, Symbian is way safer than any other OS, just go for apps which are signed by Symbian Foundation, etc. and there's no threat whatsoever. Android did have a few viruses lurking around, the latest reports of which I don't have.

              • Guys,

I select my Phone only based on its music playing capability.

I am a big walkman fan right from my child hood days,

                Till now used Sony Ericsson
                W800I
                W950I
                W960I
                Currently the AINO.

But now that I feel my AINO is outdated, i am looking for a phone that can is Android based or any new OS Based and provides equivalent Sound quality (Head Phones) to the AINO.

I tested the IPhone 4 and not satisfied with its Audio Output, there is a lot of sibilance between the highs and mids.

Are the Andriod based Xperia, HTC, Samsung and LG ones give good output?

Before getting any Android/Symbian you must decide what you want :-

                  1. Battery Life /Reliability - N8 or Nokia varient
                  2. Best Camera + Flash Combo - N8
                  3. Music and Offline Navigation via OVI maps - N8 or Nokia varient.
                  4. N8 now come with Anna and after that Belle available which is almost look like Android.
                  5. Decent number of Apps.....though lack of medical app as well as no Dropbox App.
                  6. Email - You need to rely Nokia Email (push mail service).
                  7. Built quality of Nokia N8

                  For Android :-

                  1. Truck load of App
                  2. Better Browser Inbuilt
                  3. Proper HTML Email Solution
                  4. Easy Gamil and google service.
                  5. Less Battery life than Symbian Device

True...did you check out the new anna and belle youtube videos..i think those solve most of the problems or disadvantages N8 has...the only two reasons i aint selling my n8 is for its awesome camera and ease of various functional usabilities and not able to sell my iphone cause i am addicted to it ..Man, am so greedy

I am just putting my views here( no arguments here guys )

I have no doubts about the Music and Still pic capabilities of the N8. Its awesome. I agree to that. But I would still prefer to carry an all around phone and portable music player or cam when going for an outing.

What I have learnt by listening to music in the phone for a prolonged time is, you will find yourself out of juice when you need to make that emergency call. Coming to the Galaxy SII,i use my phone for Texting, browsing, gaming, IMs,navingation, videos, official emails and personal calls. This is what I use out my S2 in and out of office and it beats all the phone flat out in all these areas.

I had an N8 for a week the UI is not Fluid at all. End of the day, I spend most of my time looking at the slate and touching it. Even in my office. I envy at the N8 cam with my collegues and they envy at the entire phone

This is the only reason I suggested for an all rounder phone rather than a camera centric one. Cams and music players are cheap nowadays. I find no reason to sacrifice other functionalities which the cams and music players cannot replace in a phone.

SGS1 with Voodoo sound mod will blow any phone in to oblivion. Even the the so called sony walkmans you have used. Naah, that includes my SGS2 and i phones

You are looking for a phone for yourself or for ??? I was searching for a phone for my GF and did go through the small droids.I like the design of the Speria Mni and its really cute. But the screen is washed out and better suited for girls.liked the motorolla flip better.Screen was bright enough and full qwerty keys too. I would suggest wildfire S. I like the build very much.

But when i was looking for the phone, only the wilfire was present and i was satisfied with that phone and hence dropped the idea of "presenting" the phone and saving some thousands in that process.

Wow, thats pretty cheap for the super Amoled display...i was thinking that it might be around 8~9 k mark. Did you check for dead pixel in the new dispaly ? is there any difference between the original display which came along with the phone and the new one? How abou the banding in the new display and the yellowish tint ?

Did you get the damaged display back ? I believe the display has to be changed along with the touch screen surface ?? or the display and the touch screen glass are differnt module.

                              • The display has to be changed along with the touch screen interface. even i was surprised by the cost, was expecting a dent of around 8K. There is no banding/yellow tint problem or dead pixels problem.

I Did not get the damaged display back. would it be of any use??
