  • Please suggest a phone for the following requirements: 1. Budget - 15-20k 2. OS - Android Gingerbread (standard, no custom ROMS) 3. I use GPS quite often so I need a phone with a good GPS sub-system 4. Good sunlight legibility for screen 5. Good audio quality and a loud speaker (I tend to miss quite a few calls since I dont hear the phone ringing) 6. Absence of FM is not a deal-breaker but I would prefer if it was there.

it is good has sim calling but it is locked only to reliance & I really personally dont like reliance plans for sim..so have to look at lacs with capacitive touch & android 2.2 for 10k.but dont know when it will be available in shops..

                • An old friend visiting here just gave me this old phone for free , it was locked to the AT&T service in usa and wouldn't work here . So I did a unlock & jailbreak on it and it's been working happily for a week now on Airtel's gprs-edge service here in calcutta , Yahoo !!

                  • New requirement

Guys, i need a mobile for my dad with the lowest SAR rating. It should be a basic candy bar phone. No touch phones or smart phones. Any suggestions ?

Another requirement for my friend is an android phone around 10~15 k. I have suggested defy or a wildfire S. Anything else of VFM option ?? Wave 2 kept out due to limited apps

Having used GPS phones for sometime , I'd say verify the unit's capabilities thoroughly if possible from a real user , if you need to rely on it heavily . GPS on some nokia and samsung units often fails to lock to my location , takes 10+mins to find me or even mislocates me when I am deep inside my office building or the weather is bad .... i.e doesn't work as advertised . Just my 2 paisa of thought

                              thanks dude,
was reading up about GPS and AGPS, AGPS has a `track` time of upto 12.5min as they solely rely on satellite service , but the advantage being that if stuck in `No Service ` area you can still find your way, recent examples , was driving out of Hyderabad, on the Telengana Band day , and thanks to my friends iPhone we were able to `sneak around` the blockades on the main highways, and recently was on my way to Mumbai , and was stuck outside Pune, and my stupid phone had ` No active servie could be found, please try again !!!`

AGPS was developed to `Assist/ Augment ` GPS to decrease the track time and be more accurate , but some manufacturer have relied only on using the towers to fix and track!!!!!

BTW was checking N8 specs and it too says GPS with AGPS , so any idea if it is satellite based or proper AGPS .

                              cheers

                              • Has anybody here used Samsung Star Duos B7722? Request you to share the feedback. Initial google research says feedback is negative.

I am looking to buy a dual (GSM) sim (both SIMs on standby is a must) with document viewer (word, excel & pdf) and good internet surfing. Any suggestions would be helpful.
