Also got a hands-on experience of Xpreia x10, i really wonder why it costs a whooping 30k? Cheaper phones have better features. Also saw Xperia mini. Man it looks like a chinese Mp4 player
yes u r right man, its the game of the mobile phone companies that they r making phones which got some spl fetrs and they r asking huge price to pay for,but the main prob is what ever amout u or i pay we'll never get a 'complete' phone.
i wonder ppl r paying hepty amount to buy an iphone, but still they r not satisfied.
Just take my case i m looking for a good camera mobile phone(must be VFM according to the fetrs) but still now i could'nt find any!
some of them r asking to pay just for dr brand name!
nothing to say about Xperia mini is real mini.....

man i know what a mpxl stands for...and i have used lot of best camera featured mobiles in my life...hope u have never used a SE w995 in real time...i never used to comment on mobiles after reading de reviews on internet...i comment on mobiles which i hav used them to their limits..
and on N900 vs WAVE --wave beats N900 in all cases..when it comes to camera mobiles,, Samsung r way ahead...and wave has got a capacitive screen and not a resistive as on Nokia,,so it makes a huge difference in touch experience.i sold N900 for Samsung OMNIA HD i8910 after a weeks usage..as i was much towards capacitive screens.and i love de qwerty on-screen keyboard on capacitive screens [iPhone and omnia]..they r a great pleasure to use.Carl Zeiss Optics r proven one's in Nokia but not in N900,,N900 has got de worst camera i have ever seen in a 5mpxl camera

riot- has made a great choice..by choosing wave on N900..

and i don't want to start a Brand war here..

Spent some time with both the sets. Seems like i will go for Wave. Found it crispier and pics quality was superior to N900. Though i really really enjoyed surfing web with N900, it overall didnt justify the 7k higher price tag. Wave`s screen was mouthwatering, the sales guy played "300" Movie trailer on wave and it looked absolutely stunning .

i too was a great fan-boy of Nokia for years...i have used more than 20 Nokia mobiles..then for de first time i shifted to a touch screen [iPhone 2g]..before buying a touch phone i had a dilemma on how am gonna use a touch phone which had a single button, but after few days of usage,,,it made me think y do we need buttons..and multi-touch experience is fantastic.,
iPhone 4 has got a reception issues even though it was sold 1.7millions in 3days of its release,,

        • Guys, Wave would be a better choice than N900 for general usage...

Wave has AMOLED Screen which has a wide viewing angle...
Wave has a better processor, and better phone memory management, as only a part of its memory is usable for messaging, apps, etc.
Wave has the audio quality almost matching a iPhone/ iPod...
Camera is good enough, but its video recording is where the power is felt...

On contrast, N900 has the resistive touchscreen that became the doomsday for Nokia, with N97 and 5800. Neither is its audio that great.

Also, I agree with vinoob about W995, having seen it myself. Who knows whether its cybershot or anything else?
But the camera images were good enough on contrast, coloring, brightness, etc, even on a PC.

          • I finally decied to go for Samsung wave and went to samsung showroom. Who knew i will get even further confused. There was Samsung Galaxy S. It looked GORGEOUS . That android 2.1 was looking strikingly beautiful and touch interface was killer. The 4inch amoled display was even bigger killer. Web pages looked crisp and everything was damn sharp. But it costs full 12k more than wave .

            Now i am further confused.

              • Have been looking for a 10-15K feature packed phone for quite sometime. Liked the Samsung wave which is of 17K approx, with 5mp cam, flash, A-GPS, 2gb internal, 32 expandable and what not!
After reading about the BADA OS on techtree ( Techtree.com India > Reviews > Software > Mobile Phones > Samsung bada OS Review ), came to know that it is very much comparable to iOS4 and Android.

Thinking of buying it, but it is a bit expensive for my budget (17,300 at univercee.in) . Btw what's its street price?

both r great phones,de major difference is de screen, OS and inbuilt memory..4inch screen is always a treat to watch movies and brows webpages when compared to a 3.3 inch screen..android[galaxy] platforms are far more superior to Symbian[wave] now a days..more than that i don't find any major difference as i haven't used galaxy personally.

Galaxy S has many disadvantages compared to Wave:-->

                      1. No free GPS navigation solution, Wave has it (turn by turn for 30 days),
                      2. No Flash support for the web browser (Wave has Webkit-based Samsung Dolphin Browser 2.0 with full Flash support)
                      3. No flash for the camera, Wave has a LED Flash,
                      4. No dedicated camera key, which Wave has,
                      5. Less featured Camera interface, which Wave has better
                      6. Feeble loudspeaker, which Wave has at a good level..
                      7. Camera has lots of noise, and less detail,

Now you ask me why the 12k extra for Galaxy. I know its contrary...

You know Samsung INNOV8 was priced 40,000 just because Samsung had to pay royalty to Nokia, for using Symbian OS.

Maybe Galaxy is overpriced because of using Android OS?

Guys, 700 MHz & 256 MB is quite enough for general usage. You'll see in the N8, that it would seem fast enough to handle all the in built stuff.

But as vinoob pointed out, it is outdated and that shows in MINOR DETAILS...
For example, run the racing games on it and you would see that it has less graphics and fps, than other solutions... The rally game has an all blue sky with no modern graphics effects?!

I'm planning to take N8 if it release in time & price is right (20k~). Otherwise, I'll go for Wave.

Again, vinoob is right that we should let it hit the market, and then decide..
The official release is for July, August or September (Q3).
We should get official reviews by August 24 or so, as its available on pre-order by then.

Street Price, last time I checked was Rs. 18000. But I say, go for it...

If you forget Touchscreen for a minute, other alternatives are N79, N85 and N86. These sets will give you the widely supported Symbian OS, alongwith all essentials covered.

And all are within 15k except for N86 8 Megapixel, which is 16-17k.

                        • I have decided to go ahead with my purchase of a Samsung Wave S8500 and in this decision, I have decided to reject The Nokia N97, X6, N900, The Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy Spica i5700, i7500, Jet, OmniaHD, OmniaLite, OmniaPRO, The HTC HD2, Hero, Incredible, The SE Xperia X10, X10 mini, X10 mini Pro, Vivaz and Vivaz Pro.

Never before in my life I have seen such a complete feature set + hardware at such a price point limited only by the BADA OS it employs. But, I foresee that this very BADA OS will be its biggest strength in the near future. As BADA OS was indigenously developed by Samsung, the cost of deployment to lower hardware phones will be as much as the Dumbphone OS they put right now.

So, when Samsung decide to roll out BADA powered phones instead of the Stars and the Corbys at similar pricing points that will be just the jump-start needed for BADA apps to flourish. Waiting for that day to arrive which cannot be very far away. In the meantime, going to my trusty mobile phone shop to get one of those beauties for myself.

P.S.: I needed turn-by-turn voice guided navigation + decent 5mpix cam + 3.5mm jack + FM radio on my phone and so was stuck with the above mentioned list. But then I saw Sygic, car navigation for iPhone, Android, Maemo, Symbian, Windows Mobile and Linux mobile devices which shows a notice that sygic maps are currently under development and will be released soon. This notice made my decision damn easy.

P.P.S.: XDA developers is a hardworking community and in the future, Android may also be possible on the Wave (Which has the exact same hardware as the android based Galaxy S). Not that i need it though, but still, there is an option.

AFAIK Route 66 has a 30 day trial for voice navigation. Thats what GSMArena says, for both OmniaHD and Wave.
