Am looking out for a new phone to buy. But dont want to shell much money on it.
Currently using Nokia 6500 Slide having 3.2 MP carl zeis lense. Am really impressed with its photo quality. But its been over 2 years am using this phone & it has started giving minor problems as well.
Hence want to buy a descent phone ranging within 10,000 Rs. which has a better or equivalent Camera like my earlier one, faster browsing. Wifi & GPS if I can get, it will be great. Though not mandatory. Am open towards options. Want to buy in next 2 days.

While browsing over the web, just came across Samsung Monte (S5620) which is around for 8000 bucks & has 3.2 MP, wifi, gps.. etc.! Any idea on how is it.?
Am been using Nokia for ages now, almost used around 10-12 handsets of nokia. So please keep that in mind the user-friendliness. Never used a total touch-screen phone, so bit skeptical... But wont mind giving a try. This is the sole place I have to look out for suggestion. Am looking for responses with a great hope here :P
Nokia 5800, like you suggested is touchscreen, and a below average one, not like iPhone or Wave... Very less responsive.
Also, its camera is bad. Too much noise in images... Even your 6500 is better cam.

For a good "successor" to your earlier phone, I suggest N79... 5 mp cam, wifi, gps, non touch, symbian os, etc.
Very practical, good battery life. Its about Rs. 12900.

Nokia N79 - Full phone specifications

For some cash less for smaller screen (2.2 inches), you can go for 6720 Classic, which is lower priced too but has much features of N79.

Nokia 6720 classic - Full phone specifications

For a blazing CPU, and 2.6 inch screen, you can choose 6710 Navigator.

Nokia 6710 Navigator - Full phone specifications

Both these sets have good cam+audio ...I mentioned only those sets which won't make you miss your 6500 slide, in features, battery life, etc.

EDIT: Damn man, I was late as you already purchased something... All that left hand typing wasted.

          • Wave

I hv bought a Samsung Wave one month back and its awesome. Im not much not messaging so the onscreen keyboard is enough for me. Touch sensitive is awesome 100 times better than Nokia touch phones (523 series, N97 & Mini) I hv used mentioned Nokia phones and was not happy with the lazy touch sensitivity and camera clarity.

The only draw back in Samsung Wave is the internal memory, there is not much internal memory available.

            • Well i bought myself a Samsung Wave too this friday and was absolutely in love with it because of its super amoled screen, 1 GHZ processor and and a super sensitive touch interface and full HD video recording untill it stopped working the very next day . It conked off in 26 hrs flat, nw that i have been able to get a clearance certificate from the service centre i can pickup a new handset anytime i want except of course the phone isn't available in stock anywhere in bangalore. I've searched more than 38 stores already but to no avail.
              respect ma authoritae!!

                  • Guys, for entry in guiness book of world records, the age old record for typing 160 characters, was 35.6 seconds...

It was recently broken! By 9 damn seconds... Check it out here:

World record in fast texting broken, 160 characters typed in 25.94 seconds on a Galaxy S

Do you know which set/ mechanism was used? The same Galaxy S/ Wave that you guys are using...
Its swype typing is so damn fast, innovative & reliable...!

                          +1
                          The X6 is overpriced, IMO

If I had that kind of money, I would go and buy a wave with my eyes closed.

you need to go outdoors to use GPS. first time startup of GPS may take as long as 5 minutes if stationary and upto 15 minutes if moving to get a proper fix. It will speed up later using AGPS and historic GPS data.

AGPS means, I will be assisted through a voice, right.?
And will it work thru Google Maps only, which I have by default or can I get any offline maps too
