  • SG2 is not a direct rival to iP4, it is a notch higher for the start. Rivalry is between iP4 and SG-Original.

SG2 will be crossing roads with iP5 when it launches in Sep'11 (as speculated)... I dont agree with u guys who pitch SG2 against iP4.

Common guys, 1.2Ghz DUAL-CORE is definately looking for better match, Optimus 2X is up-close but battle will be taken to next level only when iP5 comes along....

Till then SG2 is here to stay......! (sorry iP4 likers, but that is what all tech editors has to say and also Samsung lovers will agree)
You must be the change you wish to see in the world

Samsung Wave series come with Samsung's Bada OS. The eBay offer currently is for Android/Windows/Symbian based mobiles. Sygic has recently launched MMI maps for Bada OS also. For initial days it was offered at discounted price under promotional scheme for around Rs. 600/- on the samsung wave forum. Now you will have to shell out 3k for the same thing.

A-GPS allows you to navigate using maps in real time.

        • Ok I phone guys. i am outnumbered here. Now i was stressing about a point called out of the box features in phone. Now if i phone can be jailbroken, android can be rooted.

Moreover when a hardware is designed to a single job at a time, the coding can be very efficiently written to use the max potential. Ask apple to enable true multitasking in iphone. now lets see what happens to the game.

As i said earlier, there is no point in comparing iphone and SGS2. The strength of i phone lies with the smooth touch functionality and the Apps.

I will not compare i phone to an R15. Its better off compared to a bullet.

          • Guys, i am looking for a new phone. My requirements are as follows:
            -5MP and above with AF
            -3G, Wifi
            -QWERTY or Both QWERTY+Touchscreen
-Any OS would do provided it supports maximum number of applications and is flexible without any bugs.
            -Budget:15k max

So far i have shortlisted Wildfire S/Nokia C6-01 & Samsung Galaxy Ace.

Which one would be better overall or else is there any other better options in that price band? I am considering the Nokia as it has the option of extendable warranty period. Is that available in others too

Why is true multitasking so hard to implement.. AFAIR.. my old WM5/6/6.1 (TYTN II, Touch PRO) devices had TRUE MULTIASKING... I could start music on the music player, start a download in the Opera for mobile browser and then start my GPS navigation app.. and everything would still continue working.. albeit a bit slow.. but everything kept working. To top it all, if I started solitaire over all this.. the phone would still keep navigating, the download never stopped and the music never stopped playing (unless there was a voice instruction from the navigation app which promptly paused the music, gave the direction, and resumed music playback...) How hard is it with phones of this day and age to implement features which have been available since 2006.

IMO, if you could look around the usability front, WM6.1 was the last platform to support true multitasking. Everything else since that is a fake. Just a fake. All that RAM and processing is useless. (I have never used bb so dont know about that one..)

I dont think so, my all time favourite phone is the champion of multitasking. Its the Omnia HD. not know to many. Check the link if you have any doubts.

This is a phone very ahead of its time and hence people didnt accept it

I have a Motorola Milestone... I bought mainly for the MotoNav feature... let tell you the Android experience in one word: "terrible"... Android development is fragmented and therefore is leading to a lot of glitches in the phone... sure you can always work around these glitches but is that the way its suppose to be? For example, while the phone was clean (meaning no apps), the MotoNav app would switch on without any issues... after installing a few apps, the MotoNav app will not switch on... it hangs and a hard reset is the only option to recover... now of the funny part, immediately after the hard reboot, switch on the MotoNav and its works .... is that how things are suppose to be?

I have never face such experiences in a Iphone... my phone never hangs nor does it do the Houdini act where battery charge is concerned (suddenly you are down by 2 bars of charge)...

You can't just take one app as a reference and make statements based on it.... it could be the hardware issue... yes android is fragmented but it is very intuitive and offers maximum flexibility , one can utilise the hardware to its full potential with android........ i haven't used Ios but based on my experience with android/symbian/BAda... i would say android is brilliant. Its like Linux VS windows.... Linux offers maximum flexibility whilst windows offers user friendly interface.... and regarding apps.... you always have an alternative ... like Ndrive.... i use Ndrive.

i have never faced any issues like the one you've mentioned ....if you have 30/40 apps running in the background and eating up the available memory obviously the new launched will crash. I have Optimus One running android froyo..and it gives 40 hours of backup with standard usage and 35 hours with constant Gps and Gaming/music and internet... isn't that enough? and FYI my phone has never crashed because it has ample amount of RAM 512MB to support, you can't pin the blame on android when the problem is with the hardware limitations.

PS: If you want customized OS you can always root the phone and flash the one which suits you.

No this ain't fake either.. and thats exactly what my point was... Why can't the new gen smart-phone OSs do what the old ones did with ease?

Which Os are you talking about ? WEB OS,Sysmbian and Android does that. In the current generation smart phones, most of the time, the resources are used for the UI and not for the actual app you are running in. Even an I7 procy with 4gb ram lags when i scroll down a folder with N number of files. What can a mobile phone do . Its used hardware acceleration for it to improve the slickness

Right now the hardware is evloving at a faster rate than a software in phone because it has becomes a marketing strategy and to show superiority of a product. There will come a time when phones cannot just go ahead with processor speed due to physical limations such as heat, power consumption. Then you will see wonders happening in the software side. Codes and instruction set smaller, shorter, smarter and faster will come out.

@Chicane_ Buy a product with decent hardware specs. I would blindly say that nokia has the highest incidents of water logging feedback from the service centres. This is because nokia phones are manufactures with water absorbent chemical so that it can absorb the moisture even in the air you breathe and keep you out danger by reducing the changes of moles and fungi forming due to it. Also it make you fit by making you walk across service centres for an involving relationship with nokia brand. It will also teach you anger management and patience and love by making you wait for your beloved phone for more than a couple of weeks. Yes, these phones have so much attachment to the service centre that many a times, it will ask you to take her there just like ppl take their wives to her MILs house.

Jokes apart, let me be honest here. i Love Nokia for the best customer relationship it has and for the best product which are fail safe.

Forget NOKIA at the moment, Android craze has sent it into coma & even Anna cant do anything about it.

                          1) Samsung Bada-2
                          2) Wildfire S
                          3) Samsung Galaxy 9003 (one with S-LCD will cost 18.5~19k)

                            LOLz!!

I was just considering the Nokia for the support i.e Extendable Warranty period. But i am seriously considering a budget smartphone.I cannot exceed 15k so i have shortlisted the new Samsung Galaxy pro B7510/HTC Wildfire S and Galaxy Ace.

Galaxy Pro has both the touch+Qwerty option but has got only a 3.15 mpx cam(and that too with lousy quality ). My minimum requirement for the cam would be 5MP with A/F. So it's kind of out off the equation but still i am liking because of it's novel form factor and the Android OS.

Wildfire S is what is tempting me the most but i am not certain about the HTC support and the phone's reliability in the long run.

First of all the so called one reference is an example... just because I have not quoted other instances does not mean there are no other issues... lets face it, the fact remains that in a close environment like Apple's, it helps them control what goes onto the Iphone and what does not... while it is not very likeable to open source evangelists across the world the fact remains that it offers far superior quality of applications to users... this is a fact... thus offering a far superior user experience... since you have not used IOs, I would strongly suggest using it to see what its all about...

Also food for thought.... why is Apple able to achieve a user experience, which other phone makers are striving for and in the process offering higher chip speeds, bigger screens, more resolution, the whole kitchen sink ... what is Apple doing right? It is not offering 2 cores, it is not offering 10mp cameras, it is not offering physical keypads, yet it sells in numbers that is the envy of all the other phone makers... these same phone makers had said that its 'old wine in new bottle' when the first Iphone was introduced and today they are trying to mimic it hoping that some of that success rubs off onto them...

I do not consider myself to be a Apple fan having instinctively been drawn to the open source argument since my college days... the open source argument is compelling and sustaining... however, when it comes to user experience, I have to salute Apple and Steve Jobs for knowing what its all about...

We are talking about an average user, why would an average user ever want to root the phone... what is the average user wanting from his/ her phone... not glitches and work around, thats for sure!!!!
