Using the S2 with one hand is indeed gonna be impossible due to that mammoth lovely screen . I would wait for your battery update, if it lasts a day with good usage i might clinch it... I absolutely love that super amoled plus screen, its not even launched here in usa

And you would have a hard time trying to keep that phone away from others

Ha Ha.Yes. the problem with Samsung is, its is not so good at advertising the product like Nokia and Apple.

SGS2 has twice the processing power and twice the number of cores than N8.

By the i am in the process of ordering some stuffs from e bay for the phone.Say screen protectors, USB OTG generic cable, leather pouches and a 32 GB class 4 sandisc memory card.

That is complete and utter journalistic nonsense. The world knows that the droid, milestone series of phones saved Motorola Mobility when it was almost going bankrupt.

The fact is simple - its like a car or a windows PC - no one is asking you to install all the crap in the world. Its YOU who chooses to install stuff on it. If one wants - he can use it as limited as the iPhone - download known safe apps and pay for them. What goes wrong is when people install dodgy apps or want cracked versions to be risk-less.

As for the update process, it is just a matter of less than 30 minutes. And the best part is, because it is the official release of Gingerbread 2.3.3, my warranty is completely intact, which would not be the case if I rooted it.
That is completely illogical. You need to try it first before you say so - Rooting and unrooting is a ONE CLICK process on most phones. Surely you've neither tried it, nor googled enough.

Infact, even if you load a custom ROM - you can always flash the official ROM to send it back under warranty if required.

PS: I have a motorola defy - the only reason I bought it was its rugged nature + ability to root and mod it to run Gingerbread aka 2.3.4. Have done enough nonsense on it in a month to be sure of what I'm doing.

Samsung B7510 seems to be the best bet amongst the ones which you have shortlisted.

It's QWERTY+Touch, Android OS, Fast processor speed of 800Mhz , good camera with A/F and it's loaded with other essential features too. The only downside it is the display resolution of only 256k.

Even i am seriously considering this phone along with the HTC Wildfire S but in a kind of confusion whether to go for a powerful+less eye candy phone or slow+android v2.3+cool looks phone. Last time i checked i was quoted 10.5 k for the Samsung which i think is quite a good bargain for the form factor and the features it comes with.

Apple fans hug ? i will put it the other way. I would like apple software team to work on android customisation with open source code in samsung galaxy s2

Now that should be an ultimate phone.

I do know that there are exists tools to to root and unroot an android phone with a single click. But there also exists the possibility that the phone might get bricked because the software hasn't gone through the quality control that Samsung subjects its official updates through. Don't get me wrong here, I am not against rooting android phones which the OS itself encourages you to do due to the strong Android developer community out there. But there's the ever slight chance that something might go wrong leaving you with a dead brick on you hands and no way to unroot it. I would like to know that in such a case I can be able to claim a warranty on the phone. I would prefer to experiment rooting on it until it is out of warranty.

Damn, the phone is available at 30.5k around 5~6 days before the official launch date by samsung. Just drooling what will it be after the official launch. Let is get lauched all over india and it will be sub 30 k for sure.

Are you talking about Wildfire S ? i had used the Wildfire and the only minus was its pixelated screen. Now with the upgraded resolution, it should be fine. But i have no idea since i have not used it, nor have i done an extensive research on it.

Congrats on getting the S2! I am not considering the Wildfire S, I am thinking of Samsung Wave 2 i.e., S8530. Please give me your inputs.

My friend has one of those. The Wave II S8530 is a very good phone in its own right with hardware on par with the Galaxy S i9000, except for the display which is below the i9000. The only thing I found it lacking in were in terms of user experience and the limited apps on the Samsung Apps market, surely no match for the sheer number and variety of the Androids App market. And of course, Samsung hardly gives out updates for it's Bada software. Plus, the metal back of the Wave II is great to look at, but slippery as hell.
