Hello people, Im looking to get an assembled PC. The only thing i've decided is the processor which is Core 2 Quad Q8200. I need help in fixing a motherboard and all the other necessary hardware for it. If you guys could tell me what exactly to look for then I can do the searching. I need it mostly to record sound clips and some video editing at times. Forgot the budget. Max is 25k including the processor.

    Thanks.

Surely, Gaming is also one of my priority and along with AMD I'm getting a 512mb graphic card(NVIDIA 9200M)
Is it good enough? or C2D processor with intel graphics media accelerator X3100
@tom sawyer: No bro, No linux for me, either XP or vista
Yes AMDs are good. But their superiority is limited to desktop processors. On the mobile front Intel is still the biggie.
And the first option is a lot better for you. An AMD coupled with a 9200M will perform better in games/HD movies/graphic design than the Intel with that lousy chipset.

If you intend to run Linux the latest specs in the market are overkill.
If Windo$ gaming, go for the latest config. These latest laptops are what enterprise work stations were 2 yrs ago!

Get the Intel one if your budget allows you.Else AMD wont disappoint either.
Another thing that is the deciding factor is the graphic chipset. Look for a HD3200 or anything above.

Here's a config in the same price that would be double as fast as the one you posted.
    Processor: Intel E8400 ~9k
    Motherboard: Gigabyte G31-S2L ~2.4k
    RAM :Transcend 2x2gb ddr2 800 ~2k
Hard Drive: Seagate sata II 7200.12 500gb ~3k
    Graphic Card: Sapphire HD4850 - ~9.5k
    PSU: Corsair VX450 - ~4k
Total:29900/- and you still have leftover for a decent cabinet and a sound card.

P.S.: DDR2 is better than the others.

If gaming, the games get progressively HW hungry. The HW becomes obsolete even before you purchase it! As for regular home/enterprise use, it should be good enough for atleast 5 years.

Read: Games = graphics intensive CAD/CAM/CAE, 3D animation, Video edits. Sound processing? its a different ballgame.

I assembled a PC 3 years ago. It's an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ socket 939 proc. Still going great. am not abreast with latest tech. know-how a bit rusty here.

hey guys so wht ram my 945 motherboard will support.
945 Chipset motherboards support DDR2 as far as I know. But the speed of the RAM depends on what model of the motherboard you have.I am guessing it's 667mhz. You can get a 2GB stick for around 1600/-. Try to get Kingston or some other reputed brand if your budget allows you.
Get a Ati HD 4670. Will cost around 4500-5000/-.

I wouldn't suggest putting two RAMs of different speeds in your system.
