Most of the new members donot even try to search the thread if the problem has been listed by other members, just asking the questions straightaway. Or creating new threads for their problems even when similar threads already exists. There are exceptions though. This creates unnecessary posts. See, nobody is against new members, but a strict monitoring system for a new member is a must. Many of them are here just for the fun of replying back even if their point is incorrect. This should be stopped otherwise even you might feel annoyed after a few years when the content quality further degrades.

We should not compromise on content quality for commercial benifits. PERIOD.

While all the points of apprehension are appreciated, making the initiation into Xbhp restricted based on intent ,and attitude had been contemplated for some time . A newbie who has genuine need to learn and good enough to contribute in Xbhp , and a newbie who is just passing by, and a newbie joining to show off as a poser will all appear as Newbie only...it is the subsequent posts that separates " The Good, The Bad , and The Indifferent." Members and Moderators have repeatedly seen Newbies becoming experts , and helping out other members, while many have always asked for a helping hand , WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE PREVIOUS POSTS, wherein all pertinent problems have been discussed to death...

I had become a member as a newbie , when nothing about me was known to anyone within Xbhp, ... learned, and trying to be of some use in Xbhp.

As members are Adults, Xbhp expects Maturity ,Basic etiquette , willingness to learn ,to contribute positively, and be Responsible Member and Citizen.

Compared to any other Bike Portal Xbhp has voluminous data and Technical info on New and old Bikes, apart from other topics....

The Valid points raised are noted , and will be in consideration for future decisions.

Not dragging the topic more, as a fellow xbhpian, I do expect that considerations would be put to action. Period.

                Scenario

There is a post I want to quote in a thread. But the thread has been closed as the ownership thread is now open. How do I do it?
What I want is that when I quote a message, the quoted text should appear in the text box, but upon hitting the submit button, there should be an error message. So that I can copy that quote, and then post it somewhere else.

Copy the entire post (or whatever chunk you want) to quote and embed the same between [QUOTE] tags (close the tag with a /) and post it in whichever thread (assuming R3 ownership thread) you want to.

Happening with everyone, the mods have been notified above and in the older "upgrade" too, but I don't think they pay any heed. May be forum is not that important for them now

True, I too wish the numbers should go. What's the point on having like counter when one cant see who gave the thumbs up, and where its has been given. Easiest way now is quoting the post and just write +1, I dont think increasing number of posts will matter now

If the forum was not important, why would they even bother upgrading to VB5. They would just this place be.

Yeah, same upgrade that made them come back to the old one. And what happened after that? Neither that "upgrade" was rectified nor the current one's problems were solved
