guys i was thinking...how would it be if you kept the stock exhaust and open the mouth a bit wider after installing K&N filter...instead of going for a new custom free flow exhaust???? my bike is the stunner...what do you suggest??sigpic

I've seen these type of exhaust mod in Spender & passion in Bangalore outer side specially in Bidadi & Ramnagara. It makes some beat but what's the need for this mod when you change the air filter to K&NOriginally posted by the_ghost_rider View Postguys i was thinking...how would it be if you kept the stock exhaust and open the mouth a bit wider after installing K&N filter...instead of going for a new custom free flow exhaust???? my bike is the stunner...what do you suggest??

they (garage mechanic) say that you need to change the exhaust if you got the k&n...because the stock air filter intakes certain amount of air into the engine the exhaust is the place through which the air comes out...so once that you put k&n air filter with the stock exhaust there is more air intake and and less air comes out causing and imbalance thus there will be a lag in your top speed..feels like the bike is running out of petrol and jerks...you could re-jet the carb but your top speed will fall down...so the need of a free flow exhaust....Originally posted by rajaselvam_1987 View PostI've seen these type of exhaust mod in Spender & passion in Bangalore outer side specially in Bidadi & Ramnagara. i did feel the lag...i re-jetted the carb...now my top speed has fallen down...but my mileage has come up....so are you suggesting the new free flow exhaust ???Last edited by the_ghost_rider; 04-26-2012, 10:04 AM.sigpic

He must be kidding right? For the first time I have heard that to get K&N we need to change the exhaustOriginally posted by the_ghost_rider View Postthey (garage mechanic) say that you need to change the exhaust if you got the k&n...because the stock air filter intakes certain amount of air into the engine the exhaust is the place through which the air comes out...so once that you put k&n air filter with the stock exhaust there is more air intake and and less air comes out causing and imbalance thus there will be a lag in your top speed..

It will hamper. Imagine a human being unable to get enough breath for one day, what will happen to him. Hope you got the point.Originally posted by Prakritij View PostI have a question, putting full fairings on air cooled Bikes hampers the cooling efficiency, isn't it? doesn't it hampers the Engine in the long run?

he told me that it needs to be changed in some bikes while the others its fine...depends on how much is the air intake...basically on the exhausts...like the p180-p220 they are higher performing bikes then the stunner(obviously) so they won't be needing it...but the stunner does...now he explaining me this i got doubt and i thought of sharing it here and getting ideas on what to do...Originally posted by prateek2210 View PostHe must be kidding right? before re-jetting the carb.. the bike was running lean...after re-jetting the bike is running rich...but at times when i'm running in about 90kmph - 100kmph..the bike is running lean..i dont always run in those speeds..only on empty long stretches..Originally posted by prateek2210 View PostYour bike is either running rich or lean if I am not wrongLast edited by the_ghost_rider; 04-26-2012, 04:46 PM.sigpic

Ya re-jetting is important but i dont think so the free flow is necessary. If it's necessary, use the same exhaust & remove the exhaust filter inside on that. This is much cheaper than a new FF exhaust...

This is nothing personal, but i find this extremely hard to believe.

A very good and safe biker not only because he can pop up either of the wheels, scrape his knees on a corner or go fast and make it look stylish but because he very well knows his limits and capabilities and has the patience to learn about others and ride safe ! :)
