I was looking for Stomp Grip(http://ridersdiscount.com/forum/stom...75_black_1.jpg , http://my-gp-parts.com/sites/default...roduits/r1.png) for quite some time for my R15. But couldn't get it in India. Procuring it from US was difficult simply because of the shipping it from there. Meanwhile, tours with Knee guards on took the toll on the side portion of Tank and scratches were getting bigger and bigger. Looked for various options/substitutes of Stomp grip. 3 M transparent sticker was one option. But it will defeat the purpose of stompgrip as it is slippery instead of providing grip. Thought of DIY with Baby rubber mat, Yoga sticky mat and grip dashboard mats. Finally, tried with non slip mats and got a decent , not so good looking substitute for stomp grips. Best part is that it is based on Vinyl. So the day I want to take it off, I can simply peel it off without any hassle or damaging the tank.

This is what I needed to make a desi jugaad


1)Non Slip Mat- Entire Bundle costed 250 Rs and contained 6 sheets. Normally 1 sheet can be procured from any Car Accessory shop for 50-60Rs
2) Transparent Vinyl- 50 Rs for 1 sqft. I know normally it will cost much lesser,
3) Fevi quick- Max 2 sets - 40 Rs

I checked for the size and shape of the grip. Cut the desired shaped pieces from the sheet, stuck them to vinyl using fevi quick and got the stickers/grips.






Finally stuck these grips with vinyl base on the sides of the tank.




I know these grips may look not be that appealing but they do decent job as far as providing grip and protecting tank from scratches are concerned. Total cost considering 1 sheet was consumed was around 100-150 Rs. These grips are waterproof and I can peel them off whenever I want.

@Juris : Thats one of the best VFM DIYs I have seen lately. quite practical I must say. Thanks for sharing this , gives me the idea to do same, but I have to look out for white mats (White RTR)

Thanks Prateek.... For white RTR you can choose a rubber anti slip mat. I bought this translucent rubber anti slip mat for my laptop. Works well with white and light color tanks and looks way more close to actual stomp grip.

New big bore kit,
Gixxer's xhaust(06-07),
180 section rear tyre,
split rear seat,
steel braided brake lines,
Big 300mm roto pedal discs.

WoW superb mod. How much did it costs.

He actually lost count of money how much he has spent , but he is happy with the mods, I have ridden it, raw power, and those who said that 180 rear is just a "show", I would say it works well with all these mods.

Unlucky me I could not see it in flesh when I was at Delhi..
