Its a after market part. And the quality of the piston and the cylinder is pretty good .

Dont you think if Yamaha had a OEM 165cc bore piston kit they would add it to their so called racing kit ????
Yeah I remember you mentioning that it was not OEM. Forget racing kit, heck i'm sure it would've made it to the r15s for the masses. And I thought Daytona made the racing kits so why does 165cc block be OEMs for them to launch it?

This is an aftermarket big-bore kit. We have a supplier who supplies newly casted custom pistons and makes the kit. This is not OEM.
I have already made my own big-bore for the R15 and its being tested alongside already on another engine.

@Harsha - A modified engine will reach 3 digit figures like how you do some 70-80 on a stock bike. I hit my rev-limiter in 6th almost sitting upright and then I look for the next gear. My R15 now clocks 0-100kph in 9 secs flat, thats when a stock bike clocks some 75-80kph.
He clocked 120 after some 200-300kms of running-in.

Oh i thought it was a 60 mm oem from someother Bike.
        Now since not oem,
Yeah reliability is more than to think of...
        Second thoughts creeping in..

The metallurgy is the main thing that worries.

Dont worry, let our pal test it. By the time your done with your X+10k , you should have some information about reliability.

@santa - I can give you a 20k kms warranty on this big-bore. Thats the bet. I'm saying this coz I've already given the engine all the punishment and its still smiling. What are you talking about metallurgy? I know you are talking from your past experiences, but this one is not that case.
FYI, Navnish's bike is still bone stock except the big-bore. This piston is a race-piston and is just 6 gms heavier than the stock piston.

@Binoy - I have plans of a 180cc kit for the FZ. Costs wont be discussed here.

it's a good news... an FZ to 180... so when should i ride to bangalore???

I only felt my bike(FZ16) which don't have a(infact a bad)top end... i like to increase my bike's top end... even though i reached a top speed of 119(on speedo), after 105 the bike shows how difficult(what effort should i put on it) to increase the speed...

                  Sorry for asking the cost...

anyways will change it oly after iv done like 10k kms extra on this bore.
20k of belting is good enough for that.

@silver - Daytona only makes some small components like mild camshafts, CDIs, quick throttle, exhausts etc and not some serious upgrades.
What we have on offer is something which will give a serious kick to a stock R15. My big-bore and a freeflow and carb changes will make the FZ make some serious power too. And it will be a lot more value for money than what Yamaha can ever offer.
I also have plans of adapting a different CDI for the FZ so that it can rev till a good 11-12k rpm. Its just that I dont have time these days.
