@navnish It must be a matter of great courage and frustration for you as you opt for a big bore kit, for your not-so-old Rs. 1 L R-15, in order to get some more grunt and power, from the punny 149 cc engine.
But the officials at Yamaha would not understand the state-of-mind of us bikers that even after purchasing the costliest mass-produced bike in India, one feels the itch to increase the size of engine so early.
Wish you a happy successful venture.

what is the basis for the claim? Pardon my ignorance, I am not well aware of the structural efficiences.Originally posted by santoosh View PostR15 chassis can handle a 250 cc blown engine with ease man.
with different tires though..
Stock is way too underpowered for that brilliant chassis and suspension.

@Navnish & Joel:
Congrats to both! Happy to see such a difference on the R15,can't imagine how Joel's bike would be with an addition of such a bore change! And hey..someone please post the Dyno results man!
Navnish, you have a PM
@Joel: How's this aftermarket bore's material strongness when compared to the stock DiASil one? Under riding conditions out of the track, but with a rider who always tries to extract the max out of the bike everytime on the streets, how many KMs do you think this bore piston combo would last? Most of my odometer's KMs are covered by me travelling to and fro my college(which's 15KMs away). Every morning I rush in a hurry, touching triple digits like 112kmph, running the bike only above 6k or 7k RPM all the time, shifting gears at 9.5-10k RPm(as per the tacho).Last edited by digislayer; 07-26-2009, 10:43 AM.Sunny.

Rode the bike yesterday!
AWESOME is the word, power right from the word go, the wider powerband and surge in acceleration is something thats sorely missing from the stock bike. Yamaha should actually be selling the bike like this only and not in the 150cc avtaar.
Only thing I found slightly off in the bike was the refinement level which has taken a slight beating, but heck I ride a pulsar so the refinement really does not matter to me...
Good going Navnish, and thanks for letting me have a TR on your bike!

A street bike will never experience even half the amount of abuse of a fully blown race bike. In about 8 laps in one race at chennai, a fully kitted race bike will clock some 40kms including formation laps etc. Its 2 races in one day and practise is again some 10-15 laps. So over a race weekend, a group B bike clocks nearly 150kms. Thats equivalent to a street bike doing some 5000-6000kms of super hard riding.Originally posted by digislayer View Post@Joel: How's this aftermarket bore's material strongness when compared to the stock DiASil one? I'm open to give an assurance of 20000kms for the big-bore kit, provided you do the right running in methods and change oil on regular intervals. Thats the life of your DiAsil tech hi-fi cylinder.
FYI, I'm not running a DiAsil anymore on my R15. I have my own sleeves. Things have improved a lot on my engine since then.
I thrash the hell out of my bike everyday. On my way to work, it never misses a 140kph dash sitting upright. Its been taking abuse for over 2000kms already. 2 trackdays, one race session the piston and cylinder and rings still shine. NOt a hitch in any parameter.
With similar abuse, the DiAsil was loosing out. Bore clearance went bust by over 20 microns and the stock R15 rings are a dud.
Thats another story for the day.sigpic

Thanks pranay.Originally posted by pranay View PostNavnish, a short ride on your bike, and it was evident that it wasn't the R15 motor anymore. So much low end grunt, so much difference from the stock engine. Kudos to you and Joel for a great job done!
Yeah. got to do it . will do it this weekend hopefully.Originally posted by Joel View PostGood!
