So basically, we'll not need to revv upto 12k rpm under race/drag conditions unless we're maxing out the 6th gear??

When is the ECU being launched or has it been launched already?

Actually key words like 'R15 modding', 'R15 power upgrades' etc. should be the key words. I think its very unlikely that anyone will search for 'R15 ECU'.

You may even get more hits for 'R15 air filter' than 'R15 ECU'

^ agreed , plus R15 itself should be used as a keyword, if any types R15 he should see your link as well

@Joel first of all CONGRATS for such an awesome setup...

I have some queries for you. I have booked the New R15 first of this month. so hopefully getting it in February. As i have ridden @Tintu's R15 which has the bigbore and exhaust setup i would say the low end torque has been considerably improved, i couldn't push to the limits as it was on run-in period. There was some knocking in 1, 2 & 3rd gears, why is it so? Can the knocking be solved, don't know whether i only felt it?

As my bike will be new, what mods can be done without void the warrany(i know it will void the warranty). But am looking for the new ECU and airfilter(Does these mods cause any warranty issues?). All the other(bigbore, cam mods) will be done at later stages after enjoying the stock bike(at limited period). Not a big fan of loud exhaust's, so i purposefully removed from my list. Without the exhaust will there be any probs in other mods?

                    @Joel

could you pls share links of Youtube videos that contain bikes modded by you, this will increase the responses and will attract more eyeballs.

                    You have got mail.

                    • @Binoy - There is nothing that Yamaha will anyways cover much in warranty and there is nothing to go wrong in the R15 as well.
Well, its always best to mod a brand new bike as it will have better tolerances and internals are fresh.
There is no knock at high revs, improper riding technique by loading the engine at low revs is what causes the knock. Compression ratio is higher than stock. Those extra 2.5horses will speak for itself when you crack the throttle. The exhaust will be an icing on the cake. The new ECU will also make a lot of difference.

+1, my bike has gone from an over-geared machine to becoming a under-geared one . It has so much of torque across the power band that I am seriously going to have think of changing the gearing sometime in future after fitting the ECU....

oh am sorry to mention the knocking is at low rpm only.
Thanks for the reply @Joel. As for the first stage i am thinking of the new ECU and airfilter only. After buying the bike i will be a poor soul. so the other mods can only be considered later. Is the new ECU just a plug and play which can be done by Yamaha SVC? or your help needed in the installation process?(I don't know about the ECU stuff, that's why asked)

The ECU will probably be a plug and play system.
All you have to do is remove the stock ECU and fit the new ECU.
                            This is what im guessing.

                            • Its as simple as you changing the SIM card in your phone . Removed old one, and put new one.

                              • Joel,
May I ask,is your proto 176cc is a boring out of the 60mm block,or is it a totally different block.

And if i decide to to get something like a 178cc block, can your ECU handle it??
because i think your the only one making a custom ECU for the r15 in the whole world.

                                thx
