I was there and witnessed the same...cheers to you JoelOriginally posted by Joel View PostToday was the maiden race with my first prototype R15 ECU. While the entire grid was running their respective works and setups, I only had my magic box to showcase the whole track and nothing fancy. The bike clad in a matt-black paint job, was the target for every rider to chase. After most knowing what I've been cooking over the last few weeks, it was quite clear to most that I was going for it for sure. The grid had the highest ever Group D entries - A whooping 36 bikes. And every rider wants to win the race.
Lights off and the ECU equipped bike with Sarath on board, simply rocketed away. With a lead of nearly 3 secs per laps and a difference of nearly 15 secs through the 7 laps race from the second finisher, the message was clear. The bike was pulling speeds effortlessly and recorded the fastest laptime ever done by a Group D race bike at the Chennai motor circuit. 2:09. The bike which finished 2nd did just under 2:12.
The ECU talks for itself. Also our very own Killer has his own experience to share since he was also in the race on a bike which was prepared in a jiffy and yet managed a 4th place finish in race 1.
Looking forward for race 2 tomorrow.
Next up, is a fuel efficiency test next week. I'm 99% sure, its already about 5% more fuel efficient over a stock ECU on a stock bike with the extra power. From my road tests and abusive 0-100 tests, it seems more fuel efficient and after logging AFRs v/s stock, its clearly evident. This is going to be ultimate package for a stock spec R15.
1.2 secs quicker to 100kph on bone stock bike with the ECU alone.
Pls check my mailNever Give up on something that you can't go a day without thinking about.
Cheers

Will a joel'd R15 be able to beat Ninja? :PBeware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

Stage 1 mod by Joel(Bolt on kit), ie ECU,FFE,Air filter and 165cc Big bore=0-100 in 9 secs, add a camshaft and head work and maybe even a higher bore, then you will be eating stock Ninja's, high lift cams and headwork makes a huge difference in modded vehicles, trust me been there and done that, along time ago........
Cheers,

CBR250RROriginally posted by chinmayakar View PostYes, I think Joel had mentioned before that his re-worked R15 can eat Ninja 250 and CBR250RR.
Also, we are working to make my 220 dtsi beat Ninja 250 which is already modified by him.
If it is Joel, anything is possible.
. There is day and night difference between CBR250R and the extra R on CBR250RR, google up or youtube.

It's a typo mate, CBR250RR would even eat Ninja250 for breakfast...Originally posted by bprags View PostCBR250RR

A stock Ninja does 0-100kph in 8.5 secs as per my test. I dont trust any magazine figs. My R15 does 0-100kph in 7s. An R15 with my bigbore and my exhaust alone with a stock ECU also posts 0-100kph in 9.2 secs.
Head work + street cam + bigbore + exhaust - around early 8 secs
Add ECU to the above package and you are already licking under 8 secs.
Which is still faster than a Ninja with a Two brothers exhaust. The CBR250R is way slower than a Ninja 250 itself.
The R15's edge is its amazing power to weight ratio.
Whats really interesting is the fact that a stock R15 propels to 100kph nearly 1.5 secs quicker with my custom ECU. As said earlier elsewhere, I m expecting a bump of nearly 5% rise in fuel efficiency atleast.Last edited by Joel; 02-10-2011, 05:34 PM.sigpic

Looks like one of the best performance to price ratio one can get for a bike for around 1L+...R15 looks closer to perfection now..Originally posted by Joel View PostA stock Ninja does 0-100kph in 8.5 secs as per my test. And your work has convinced me more than anything to go for an R15...

Let me correct you here, Yamaha should thank joel for all his efforts, by showing the this bike has the potential way beyond our imaginations and joel to extract it, has temped each and every person who has read this thread. I for one was hell bent on buying a 2nd bike as a R15 but that has been postponed, now will be heading to bangalore to get my bike just a little faster.Originally posted by Aravind View PostLooks like one of the best performance to price ratio one can get for a bike for around 1L+...R15 looks closer to perfection now..

Also Chin, as I mentioned earlier, maybe you havent dragged with a ninja but I have, a few times, and each and everytime, till 140 kmph, I am ahead, at 140 they start to catch up and around 150 they are ahead, but if you see mts wise, I still win.Ripping the streets of Bombay on my P250 M
