both my car and bike have done past 10k,so i will be trying out the boric acid.If it has worked well with innova,it should work in swift D.Originally posted by psr View PostVelociraptor what works for me may not work for you...so beware and you do the Boric Acid add on AT YOUR RISK...I had used the treatment WITH NEW OIL in Turbo diesel of TATA Indica, Toyota Innova with good result..I used 25gms per liter of engine oil...ALWAYS USE NEW ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER when you are using the mix.....and it should not be changed for the next 1,000Kms for full effect. for bikes it is New engine oil with 20gms per liter of engine oil. Do not use in engine in run in period or bikes which have run less than 10 K Kms.Socha Toh Locha.

Remember to change Engine oil and Oil Filter to NEW, BEFORE ADDING THE MIX....Originally posted by velociraptor13 View Postboth my car and bike have done past 10k,so i will be trying out the boric acid.If it has worked well with innova,it should work in swift D.
Some Swift Diesels had poor turbo dependability, and so get additional info before going for this....The turbos in the SWIFT diesel used to fail in 5 K to 30 K Kms range, and were replaced by company as manufacturing defect.Visit Team-Bhp for more info..
The same goes for some of Ford Duratorque engine turbo..Last edited by psr; 08-26-2011, 12:36 PM.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Status Update
Changed my oil at last at 5900 kms - and it STILL had some life in it...maybe another 1.5 to 2k kms, I guess, but had to change as I was planning on a pretty long ride of about 3000 kms round trip
Did not do the treatment this time - I guess one more treatment at the next oil change should be fine

You require the treatment only once, and if you want you can repeat it, but with lesser amount of 10 Gms or less .Originally posted by Centaur View PostChanged my oil at last at 5900 kms - and it STILL had some life in it...maybe another 1.5 to 2k kms, I guess, but had to change as I was planning on a pretty long ride of about 3000 kms round trip

Any specification of pharmaceutical grade boric powder?Originally posted by psr View PostNO .....What is recommended is pharmaceutical grade and very refined without impurities and smaller in particle size.
Also y a new engine oil is needed? A new engine oil will anyway make the engine run smoother making making it difficult to judge the difference. Won't adding it to old oil give me the desired result?Contribute to the environment.

Pharmaceutical grade will do.....You must use with New oil, otherwise the Boric Acid is likely to react with old oil residue and loose it's ability.Even with New oil you will start feeling the effect after the first 100Kms if your engine had done 3o K or more...For younger engines with less mileage the effect will be felt after 500 and 1,000 Kms.Originally posted by nirvaana View PostAny specification of pharmaceutical grade boric powder?

Always add 20Gms per liter of engine oil. Pre-mix the Castrol 40ml 2 T oil with Medical grade Boric Acid, and add to NEW ENGINE OIL.Ride the bike as soon as you have added the mix for at least 50 Kms distance...Keep the oil with mix in engine for at least 1,000 Kms for full effect. When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

thanks for your clarification sir, i do understand the risk associated with it..Originally posted by psr View PostPLEASE REMEMBER IT IS AN EXPERIMENT THAT COMES WITH RISK of even total engine breakdown...If you do it you take the decision and risk..
Earlier my scoot's carb got almost blocked with this (whenever treated) and in a 4 stroke bike if oil pump gets blocked (!) then the beloved is gone in no time..

The problem with Boric acid treatment happens with old oil in bad condition, and with not well maintained engines with sludge inside...Many people do not understand the variables and if any problem crops up they would rather blame the person who recommended it,than understand the real problem.Originally posted by Honda_CBF View Postthanks for your clarification sir, i do understand the risk associated with it..

For your Scooter I had told you clearly that only through fuel tube of carb you can use the mix as sending it through auto lube will block the pump...and in carb also it will settle to the bottom in the Float bowl and block the jets and petrol flow.....so you did know the probs you were going to face.I think I even mentioned using the Injection Syringe for the same.In a four stroker the oil pump is different and less likely to get blocked....still to keep the suspended particles to the minimum ,a NEW OIL is recommended,to aid in flow of the mix through oil pump and OIL FILTER.
All of us want a smooth engine with good initial, great top end with excellent fuel efficiency from our bikes.....very few bikes can deliver this, but our love for our bike will never let us accept it...
Many of us here are not technical, and if a mod or suggestion worked for someone we expect it to work for us also...which may not be true..The variables are too many....
Hence the warning.Last edited by psr; 09-07-2011, 11:42 AM.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

@psr,
yes sir, i remember and used your syringe idea.. It helped a lot but not 100% after all boric acid becomes solid paste kinda thing na.
& thanks for other explanations
