Ordered a big bore kit for the RTR 160 on May 12.Still waiting....

Where is the best place to stick the raceconcepts stickers that Joel has sent along with the kit - they are quite big!Last edited by shrjun; 09-17-2011, 12:59 AM.

Called him today, said he is back from Chennai and my FFE is ready and will tell me today about the delivery..but nothing yet .Originally posted by shrjun View PostI have sent Joel around 20 e-mails,a few xbhp pm(s),spoken to him twice on his mobile.I always get some sort of assurance that he will do something...
.It's disheartening to find a person so unwilling to listen to his customers, especially one who has paid hard cash upfront, based on trust.
I also keep seeing that guys from Bangalore seem to get their products almost immediately

How is the increase in mileage possible with increase in CC and power in the R15 by Joel? How come the manufacturers did not know about this? Can someone clarify?2004 Bajaj Discover 125 DTSi - 26000 KM - Sold

It isnt as simple as you say and think it is-there are lots of factors involving an engine and its efficiency.Originally posted by rharish90 View PostHow is the increase in mileage possible with increase in CC and power in the R15 by Joel? I understandOriginally posted by rharish90 View PostI know its not easy bro. But I am just asking to know.
i just meant that i dont think YAMAHA missed anything that could give a better efficiency.i hope someones else can give you a good explanation.
cheersSmoke rubber,not tobacco.

^^According to my tiny experience more the stress on engine = less FE.
So, more power (less stress) + better breathing + sedate riding is the mantra..
Just my guess nothing else

that is bcoz joels setup uses a free flow exhaust which is not really legal because it does not have a catalytic converter to suppress harmful exhaust gases and also it is louder and causes sound pollution.......although almost all bikes benefit from a ffe every bike has to pass a emissions test......and so manufacturers cant produce bikes with ffe's (thats why yamaha sells the daytona exhaust separately as a track only mod)Originally posted by rharish90 View PostHow is the increase in mileage possible with increase in CC and power in the R15 by Joel? and also while a stock r15 feels lifeless below 5krpm a joel'd r15 feels powerful from around 3krpm and hence wud not need to revv the engine very high to feel power or get around in the city........Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a Ride!' -Hunter S. Thompson

I'll try to explain a little better, with some punctuation.Originally posted by revvhard View Postthat is bcoz joels setup uses a free flow exhaust which is not really legal because it does not have a catalytic converter to suppress harmful exhaust gases and also it is louder and causes sound pollution.......although almost all bikes benefit from a ffe every bike has to pass a emissions test......and so manufacturers cant produce bikes with ffe's (thats why yamaha sells the daytona exhaust separately as a track only mod)

The purpose of a free flow exhaust and air filter is to allow more air in and out, this is to aid combustion. Why don't manufacturers do this? well firstly is noise pollution, before cat cons were introduced, I think in the late 80's, noise pollution was the main restriction in road vehicles, baffles in the muffler reduce the noise, they also reduce the flow of exhaust gases, when it comes to air filters, the noise levels of induction are relatively low in free flowing air filters, but the issue is more of maintenance, a free flowing air filter requires more frequent cleaning than a more restrictive type, another aspect is cost, they cost more to manufacture than the disposable types.
Now after cat cons became mandatory in Europe, a simple pipe set up called a decat pipe was introduced in the after market, this was a cheap method of getting a few more ponies for your money, when you needed to go for your annual emissions test, you would put the catcon back in place and remove the decat pipe. Now stick on a free flow exhaust and an air filter with the decat pipe, your engine, with a few adjustments would put out a healthy increase in BHP, this is without modding the engine, the car or bike was simply breathing more easy. Now as a result, you have an increase in fuel efficiency, this is due to more efficient burning of fuel.
Ever wander why a petrol or diesel generator goes on for hours with little fuel, than the same amount of fuel per kw output on a bike or car, would only last half at best, less restriction is the answer, more noise is there also, but damping is the solution for that and no need for emission testing.Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Do you mean to say that the big bore kit produces more BHP and power with better FE because it has more room to breathe with more air inflow and outflow? Whether we put a new air filter or FFE from Joel, R165 guys claim to enjoy more FE and power. Is that the reason?Originally posted by stefanm View PostI'll try to explain a little better, with some punctuation.
