Just rode the CBR600 today again after a lot of days. Trust me sheel, its the best bike to have. Its simply amazing...
Tyre wear is less I think compared to blade. This particular bike has done close to 8k i think (not too sure) and still alot of tread to go.
Yes, my last tyre's middle part did run out before the edges, making it "square out".
Honda India promises full service support for all honda bikes ever made ! they will get the spares (which you can get from other sources as well) directly imported from japan and fix your bike also....

How much is the tire wear of a 1000 when compared to a 600?

In India doesn't the center of the tire wear out faster than the sides making it ....(dunno the right term)

Tires and Insurance along with FE* is the biggest deterrent for Motorcyclist abroad and they hence choose the convenience of a 600 over a regular 1000.

*Most guys ride for miles and miles and one bloke has done 3,20,000kms on his F4i w/o clutch replacement but is worried about tires/FE/insurance.

I searched a bit but could not find a match, so here's hoping this isn't terribly OT:

I was hanging around a bike parking in Singapore when I got to meet a chap on a Honda CB400. Now I had seen scores of CB400's on the streets and so I knew it is a popular bike there.

The guy told me a new one costs 12K SGD which is around 4.2 L INR

I really felt that this is the bike Honda should be plonking in Indian showrooms, but I guess that is not happening anytime soon.

55 hp and 40NM torque @ 7-8K rpm seem to be the figures, and these bikes really howl. The ones fitted with an aftermarket exhaust sound great.

Nice retro styling and plenty of power...I liked this bike.

Its a bit odd, but google does not seem to have much info on these probably because they are only found in SE-Asian countries.

    Great budget I-4 IMO.

Id like to see how long ducatis engines last in WSBK.... even though they have a massive cc advantage they are really highly strung to get maximum power out of them. great wheelie machines!!

Some say the 1200 limit is justified, some say it isnt. FIM allowed it, with a few restrictions, so it's going to stay that way. Also, 12 of their 13 wins (not manuf titles) were without any cc advantage. That's the other side of the argument.

I dont follow wsbk as much, just the last few yrs. I prefer watching motogp, its covered much better.

    hello streetfighter,
no no i am not targeting anyone personally but everyone is entitled to his say in a "democracy" so lets see. This is what i feel.(i have probably met you somewhere,do u live in mumbai suburbs?)
Handling(GIXXER 1000 FAR BETTER,BLADE TENDS TO PITCH BACK AND FORTH.GIXXER HAS SHOWAS BIG PISTON FORKS,NO DIVE UNDER BRAKING AT ALL) Braking(BLADE WINS HANDS DOWN!! BUT LEVER FEEL IS SPONGY DUE TO ABS ,STILL I HAVE TO GIVE IT TO HONDA) Acceleration(GIXXER WILL LEAVE BLADE FOR DEAD) Engine refinement(HONDA BETTER)ergonomics(IF YOU WANT TO MEET THE PHYSIOTHERAPIST EVERY WEEK BUY BLADE,IF YOU ARE TOO BUSY BUY GIXXER) low range(BLADE KHATAM) mid punch(BLADE AND GIXXER NECK TO NECK) top end (BYE BYE BLADE)gixxer is dabanng, blade is scotch whisky sipping ranbir kapoor,"smooth".
As a refined product which will last many years ,HONDA HAS NO EQUAL!!I have had lets see,5 blades at various times and they were great! But then the gixxers motor is king, huge torque, hairy chested grunty engine.A mans bike.
I hope suzuki appoints me as their spokesperson for all these kind words haha

I dont expect you to only praise the duc, but going on and on and on about just the pricing has gotten boring. If you really want to compare tuned bikes then just look at WSBK, .

Now if you tune the shit out of the 1198 youl get something much better :P and the brakes on the 1198 are already much superior than the others and you dont have to spend any money trying to make it any more lighter than it already is.

As for the S the DTC itself is worth close to 5k. And yes it does make a difference.
    @TenHut
Here you go, read my comments on a BASE 1198, and why I feel the price difference is justified. It would be better if you read all posts before throwing words around. So YES i was talking about the stock 1198. It weighs just a couple of kilos more than the S still lighter than the rest.

You still dont give any details on why you want to own a 1198s. It is not difficult to get that youre buying a 1198s coz you think its good, why would you think thats difficult? Its difficult to understand why you want to buy it when you havent given one sensible reason to justify it.

I never once claimed its the best bike, now youre putting words in my mouth :P all my justifications were arguments to your one and only statement, ducs are overpriced!

FYI. i dont think the duc is the best bike to own because i bought one. I BOUGHT it because i believe its the best to own. I dont even have to ride it to appreciate it. Its common practice for people to keep ducs in their living rooms (i dont), theres a reason for that.

I dont expect you to only praise the duc, but going on and on and on about just the pricing has gotten boring. If you really want to compare tuned bikes then just look at WSBK, you know who's dominated that!

Thats like saying if u wanna talk of a bike you better just praise it. Just say "awesome bike" dont discuss anything else.

Youre contradicting yourself here, all you did was talk about the negatives. Isnt that the same?

So about the graphs I posted the only difference between the S and the base 1198 are the DTC, ohlins, steering damper, and some weight reducing components. The graphs are NOT significantly different for either.

Im tired of talking about the price, i have one youre going to get one.

    Welcome harleyfine
Can't seem to recall him or his Motorcycles, any hint AMK?

Edit-- Can someone pour some info on race ABS? There was a difference of .01 between GSX-R and Fireblade MMRT and the ABS was blamed for this.
^can ABS trigger be de-activated? I think TH had replied to this query, but can't recall it as of now.

Dont throw around sentences like gixxer is far better than the blade. I am not contesting whether it is or not but at least mention the departments you are basing your comparision on. Handling, Braking, Acceleration, Engine refinement, ergonomics, low range, mid punch, top end etc. Each bike is made for different purposes so they all outdo each other in various departments and vice versa. If you say X is FAR BETTER than Y it means either you own X or are just indulging in a hate speech for which you just made a new account on xBHP lol

if u want gixxer vs blade FAIR comparo u have a few here.
    2010 CBR 1000RR and the 2010 Gsxr1000 - Honda Motorcycles - FireBlades.org

Notice that although its a site called "fireblades.org" there is zero owner affinity towards fireblades there and more ppl are rooting for the gixxer on a blade forum.

Hate speech no no, no one hates any bike as much as you hate ducati, the reason being irrelevant. Let's roll back, you posted a pic of a cb show bike saying twice the power at half the price. If you were trolling as you say then I fail to understand the reason? Is it off season at the track?

If you actually believed that then you have some learning to do.

If Harleyfine is who I think he is then he has owned more bikes than you and me must have seen in magazines.

Still ,i feel the Gixxer 1000 is far better than the blade.
