C'mon guys can't we speculate about something other than Bajaj....or are they the most happening manufacturer in India as of now

Now, don't get to the basics(baat ki khaal mat utaar) here Praful..everyone know that if at all a news about the new 220 comes, it would come thru the PBK ppl earlier than the internet and all..!!

OT: I dint know Bajaj choose to tell the simpleton mechanics in their PBK service centers (a place where only existing customers go) about bike launches before they would tell the marketing guys at their PBK showrooms (a place where both new and old customers go).

@MG_Biker1806: You forgot about the FTA India has with Thailand. Bajaj is going to utilize that.
Personally, I feel that if it does make it here, it will cost around 2.6 lakhs OTR.
Reason: Cost of vehicle in Thailand baht converted to rupees is exactly 2 lakhs. Not that Bajaj will be getting it at that price, it will be only at the manufacturing cost for them. I am adding 20% (Bajaj's profit margin), to it to get 2.4 lakhs showroom price. Over that the road taxes etc.adding up to the OTR of 2.6 lakhs.
Just my speculation!

hey if the bike is made in India itwil definitely cost less than this 2.60 figure. as you say if the bike costs 2 lakhs in retail in Thailand, you should substract the sales tax, transportation etc. and the profit margins will be different. in this case the company supplies in bulk and there will be no distributors and showrooms to profit here so safely assume the price tag of 2 lakhs to be possible.

See, I'd rather praise a bike for what it is, than slag it off coz it didn't fare well against my own hyped up notion of what a bike shud be like !!

Can't really compare a V-twin hung from a twin spar and damping adjustable mono-shocks with a downtube cradled single mill can we? The 220 cannot cruise along at 130, both of us, we know it. Whereas the Comet can. I have done it, in searing heat, over hundreds of kilometres! Nope, I don't think that the 220 vs the Comet is a fair comparo. There is no match. Even today I regret having sold my Comet.

Maybe I am not putting them down properly , coz lots of pple are getting the context of my posts wrong, now a days !!

I was never comparing P220 and the Comet directly. I have an Aquila myself and I kno what that engine can do !!

It was just an indication regarding that the P220 is still a lot of motorcycle for the price point its offered. P220 can do 120 kmph right, and for a lot of pple its good enuff!!

I guess development of monoshock and all doesn't happen in a day or two.Next year there should be a bike from Bajaj stable which will have monoshock and all.Remember KTM 125.

21 bhp from a 220cc single will be a good thing I'd say. U get a 130kmph bike for 90K whereas a 1.6k Comet has only 10kmph more of speed !!
