Thanks mate
Some more works are gonna be flowing in this weekend and I should be able to do some testing this weekend.
need to test my new exhaust and a few other things.
The rear suspension also needs to be revised as the rake is too radical and makes the rear too soft.sigpic

A few works on the drag Fiero now are,
I have reworked on the cylinder head a bit
Bumped compression
Optimising jetting and ignition timing
Optimising the final gearing
A heavily modified, custom piston
A newly fabricated fully tuned megaphone exhaust
Will be running 100 octane hopefully, if i can source in time
A few things pending are,
need to sort the rear suspension mount and make it stiffer
some weight reduction. Approx 2 kilos to go.
Need to install the AFR guage and a new piggy back system will come in soon.
later will upgrade to a fully programmable engine management system
Will need to upgrade to a better carb or maybe some new induction method.
I have already planned the works after this. Might skip a few things listed above and just jump to what my ultimate plan is. That will indeed be a next level game and thats a surprise for now
A revised gearbox is also in the pipeline, but time is my biggest enemy.
Been working atleast 2-3 hours everyday later night on the Fiero despite my work schedule. On weekends, I'm fulltime with the Fiero. Hope I finish everything before the upcoming drag in 2 weeks.sigpic

Sankar, I have not done any modifications. I was busy with settling down in my new apartment.Originally posted by sankar View PostPatiencewins, glad to see you too mate! I hope the Fiero is back to it's prime! You dint update us.
The bike is much better after the servicing in Zen, but it is no where close to the initial refinement and power.
I plan to do a decarb, clean carburettor and change oil to Castrol Power 4T Racing or Power 1 this weekend. I plan to give the bike to Castrol Bike Zone in Marthahalli (where I stay now).
I will keep you guys updated. Thanks for all the help/ guidance.

Joel, did you have any changes made to the air and fuel systems, i.e. the usual K&N and upjetting that every other guy around the corner looks for? Have you worked on one? I was thinking of starting off by installing a K&N myself, on the lines what praveenkm told me. Next would be a bigger jet, but I am not sure what size as I am not able to find out. These sound pretty cosmetic, but I guess should be a good start. Inputs are most welcome from you saar
.
PS: I am getting a 2005 Unicorn KS that has run around 13-15K km for 16K, and a 2001 Fiero with 55k on the odo for 15k. Do you think I should get one of these to get my hands dirty, or carry on with my own steed? Which one would you recommend?

Dude, i hope u not kidding.Originally posted by diffuser911 View PostJoel, did you have any changes made to the air and fuel systems, i.e. the usual K&N and upjetting that every other guy around the corner looks for? Have you worked on one?
I wonder what makes u think that I would only have done just usual things like jetting and a k&n. My engine has most of the dynamics revised and there is nothing in resemblance to what the actual stock thing is.
Its a lot more than mere jetting and a filter.
BTW, I dont run a filter now.
Anyways, this is what I can expect of a forum which is filled with all the GP Blairs and Bells. What I have done is just baby stuff!sigpic

Joel,
Chill man. I know how difficult it is to even get things like jetting right. So much patience and effort. I guess diffuser was just jibing around.
Diffuser,
Start with turning your pilot screw on your carb and start reading plug chops. Then, you'll understand how much effort goes into even basic things. And I hope you were jibing around.

And I have been playing with variables everywhere on this engine. Jetting the bike right, keeping in mind the cam character, power peak desired, engine knocks, ignition timing, engine temperature, fuel grade, atmospheric changes on a given day etc etc is as close as what u can get to doing a black art.Originally posted by jayprashanth View PostChill man. @Joel : We wants some news on the gorgeous Group D RTR too !
Another thread perhaps ?
The last speedcheck i attended saw the Titanium Grey RTR mysteriously underperforming alongwith Pradeep's FI. Im sure all those issues are history now considering the non-stop efforts you put into the bikes
P.S : Is the speedcheck on for the next weekend..? THE Fiero and Kushanth's Zma are the two bikes that'll be tested right..?Last edited by MavericK46; 03-24-2009, 11:32 AM.I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman.
