  • Re: Inter-State Bike Transfer Thread

Well, if you are really in Love with the bike. Go for the NOC and get the bike re registered or pay the road tax for the state mentioned..

The charges will be as below as per UP.. I am not sure about GJ though..

10% of Ex-showroom price will be the tax applicable.
Let us suppose your bike ex showroom price was 50000
    (50000*10)/100 = 5000
Now 5% discount per year for depreciation of the Road tax applicable.

Since your bike is 3 years old 3*5 =15%
    (5000*15)/100 = ~333.33

Final tax you will pay =5000-333.33
    = 4666.66

This is as per UP.. if you want to re register your bike. An additional 5k approx which includes all the freaking bribe..

Documents required would be as below

    1. Photocopy of Your local address proof
    2. 2 Passport size photo
    3. Original RC book (in case of re-registration)
    4. Photocopy of insurance
    5. Original Invoice
    6. Pollution under control certificate copy
    7. Form 28

    I guess this is it..

I don't recollect the remaining documents. Once I do, I will update

      Hi everyone,

I recently shifted to Mumbai from Delhi and I'm looking to bring my bike here next month for a period of approximately 1 year. Can be more or less though.
I intend to use it for a short commute to and from from work, barely 3-4 kms one side and a rare long ride perhaps once a while.

One of my office friends is also from Delhi and he's been using his bike for all sorts of long and short ride for a long time and says he hasn't had any problems regarding traffic police.

I'm wondering whether I should simply bring my bike here and not do any re registration and stuff as that's very annoying. If there's a legal way to keep my bike here by paying road tax, please enlighten me.
Should I just bring it(get it transported by railway) and hope to never be stopped by the traffic police?

I'm a complete noob in this matter so please enlighten me.

PS - Bike is registered in my Dad's name.

        Hi all,

I need to register my KA registered bike in Pune. I know mostly all the documents required but not aware of the procedure in Pune RTO, whom to approach, when, what all to carry etc. As anyone who has entered Pune RTO knows, it's worse than a vegetable market with all windows crowded by Agents and no clear signboards, procedures etc and whatever is there is fully in Marathi.

If anybody has done this registering process, request you to provide a first hand account of what you went through.

I found this post of someone who registered their car in Pune but this is more than a year old and I'm not sure if the same procedure is still valid -

        • Registration in Mumbai

          Fellow Xbhpians,
I moved to Mumbai from Faridabad, Haryana to pursue my undergraduation and, I had my bike shipped too. Now I'm confused about my bike's registration in the sense that, should I get the registration changed? Or get a NOC? Or something else?
I've got mixed response. Some are suggesting to obtain NOC from home state, and some are suggesting not to.
Yesterday, a cop stopped me, and fined me (for riding 3 on a bike, had to) and on enquiring about NOC, he said to get it. But I read somewhere not to get NOC because after that, I won't be able to ride my bike in my home state and my bike will be in 'no man's land'.
I have a stay of 3-4 years here, in Mumbai and then, I may move to any other state, not necessarily Haryana.
          All suggestions welcome
          :D

Go through this thread, you will have your answer! You can ride with your home town number plate, generally there is no harassment from cops. But if you do something stupid like tripling or riding without a helmet or jumping a red light then they will make life miserable for you. The choice is yours!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

              Hello Folks,

I do require few clarification on the NOC.

              1. Is NOC required for TN bike if used for one week (used for touring purpose) ?
              2. What are all the documents to be carried out while driving in Kerala ?

              Regards,

                1) No NOC is not required if you're just visiting for a few days. Depending on how you're bringing your bike into the state, keeps bills/toll receipts safe to show that you recently entered the state.
                2) Carry your Licence, RC Book, Insurance, PUC. Keep all originals handy.

                • My problem registering a out of state Bullet in chennai

                  Dear all,
My first post here. So, am seeking anticipatory bail for any mistakes committed unknowingly.
I bought a 1984 RE stabdard bullet from a friend of a friend couple years ago in Bangalore. The vehicle was registered under my name there. All fine there.
I am stuck trying to get this registered here. The RTO wants on some letterhead, the invoice price of the bullet in 1984.( I ahve all the other doxumebts in order with NOC, emission certificate etc) Of course i do not have the original invoice. Nor does thr friend of a friend from whom i bought this. RTO says they dont need an actual invoice, but a notional letter stating, the cost was around so much in 1984 for this model.
I tried reaching out to a couple RE dealers and they turned me down. I tried asking the "brokers" near RTO and they did not help me either with this out of state regn.
Any idea how i can go about this, guys?

                  Thanks in advance

Try reaching out to RE customer care and explain the problem, maybe they will sort out this problem via the dealers otherwise you pretty much have no other way out. RTOs still operate in the 90's era and need each and every piece of paper you got with the bike, pretty stupid and not going to change anytime soon.

Keep checking with more brokers, Some of them will get some jugaad done or pay some contact on the inside to get it registered without the invoice (I'm having to do the same here in Pune since I don't have my bike's invoice either)

My bike is registered in Tamil nadu. I plan to sell it to my friend in Kerala. Is it possible to sell it without an NOC and re-registering?
The ownership will be changed. But can he buy it without a local Tamil nadu address?

My question is, can u buy a used vehicle from another state without a local address.
Only if you are going to re register it, you need an NOC. Is that right?

You can buy it.. get the selling letter as well.. But the headache will be when police catches the new owner! he won't be able to register in his name unless he has the local TN address! if anything happens after you sell the bike, then it is going to be difficult to claim insurance! In case you don't issue the selling letter to the new buyer (Stamped) and if the bike is used for some illegal activities, then you are in trouble my dear friend..

But if the new owner can evade cops (Which my sense says isn't going to be easy because of the Reg plate) then it might not be a problem!!

Basically, when you buy a vehicle (whatever the vehicle it maybe) you pay Road tax for that particular state and not for rest of India! which means, if you want to ride your TN registered bike in Another state, you will have to pay the Road tax of the state in which you are going to be riding in! unless it is going to be < 3 months with valid proof that you are riding it temporarily! I am not sure how stringent the rules are in Kerala but in Karnataka and TN, they are quite stringent! and they will stop other state registered vehicles!

                                Hi,

I have my 2009 R15 with MH01 registration in Kolkata and want to sell it. I am planning to get the NOC from Mumbai so that I can register it locally and then sell it. I was told that it cannot be registered here as it is not BS IV. Is that the case? If yes, what options do I have for selling it (send it back to Mumbai and sell maybe)? If not, please confirm the process to get my bike registered here (including any tips to avoid the BS IV trap). I have my RC, insurance, a Kolkata PUC, local address proof and am travelling to Mumbai just to get the NOC done.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions..
