U r right, the beam spread is designed for bikes wont serve good for a car. Using one of the lens of a car kit is good as u'll get a better wide spread. Reverse option wont guarantee results.

these questions might have been answered before but the are confusing me more and more so i wrote here.
Bi xenon means H4= dual beam=high+low in a single bulb, its activated by a electro magnetic function of the solenoid by making the bulb moving up and down movement, so the focus changes and there by beam spread too, but in real conditions, most of these HID bulbs wont give u a proper focus as the bulb position is entirely diff than a halo. Stock reflector is designed to use a halo, so using an hid will cause glares, if u can adjust the bulb within the socket itself, it can be achived, but this type is very rare to find.

If u need to buy a H4 projector, go for after market ones as thats the only source, OEMs are always dedicated single beams.

Dude, u need an outline about the HIDs and halogens, HiD's are working on DC only whereas halo will work on both. If ur bike is full DC then no mod is required only the bulb swapping either the halo upgrade or to an HID.

Using two RR will mess up and complicate it. Take any one RR which can handle full load requirement and do the necessary wire cuts. If u've any plans to add any addnl aux lamps or just upgrading the stock halo to a higher watt, then go for coil rewinding, for hid upgrade, just RR swap and wire mods is enough.

Best option is coil rewinding with all 7 poles as a single coil with 19g wire and convert it to full DC by using APE RR, then ur alternator will be capable of handling a min of 150W and u've enough power bank for any further expansions.

So get ready for a royal flood light rides on highways and screw the happiness of all truckies who are least bothered of others saftey just bcz of their 4X100W halos.

      • Skoda Octavia uses H3 type and that is the best and easily available kit.

Sajit - I sourced Lens first and then tried HID but all went for toss bcz it was D2S type. Anyways as I am not happy with High Beam ability of projector not interested anymore in it. Thou I may think again of putting projector for low beam with H3 HID. But not very soon.

Shree, I got a chance to fiddle with a Laura HL assy, its using H1 on HB and H7 on LB lens, if my memory is correct. I think Octavia is using H3 for the fog lamps that too integrated to the HL assy. HBm capability is poor for a bixen lens, but dedicated ones will offer best pattern. U didnt've a proper
lens which can be used as dual beams setup. I think Merc lens will do a nice job in LB but I doubt u've got the Octy's a fog one. Is this ur lens?

          • my hunt for projectors is on....
i need suggestions regarding high beam.
many people here are complaining as they are not satisfied with the high beam.
i am hunting for 2 projectors, 1 for high and other for low,
but is it a good idea??
reading all this should i settle for a 55w halo for high?? and a 35w hid for low?

or should i hunt for both 35w hids one for high beam and other for low beam placed maybe one above the other??

gave up the idea of bi xenons, planning to use dedicated high and low beams seperately.

regarding high beam please share thoughts and post some pics who has put up 2 hid's dedicated ones for hi and low...

if the dome may not support both the projectors (which it of course won't) then is it safe to put up an hid below the dome as one of the guys did with a comet using 220's proj as low beam??
i read it somewhere but can't find it or else would have put up a link..

Dude, thats a great looking one. How much it cost you?

@Neon, installing projectors on naked HL setup is bit difficult as there's not much space to accommodate the lens. U need to cut the reflector to get it installed, obviously water seepage may spoil the unit.

the price quoted by them for single projector+hid+angel eyes is around 5000.
its seems to be a good deal to me.

                            • hi Sajit,

i bought the same hid projector for my thunderbird. the prob is the 5ah battery dies off very soon, leaving me in the dark. am not able to take the bike for long rides during night
It can also be a charging issue, which the mech is now trying to fix.

my question is if the rectifier and battery are good, do you think the proj HID can comfortably be getting power with a 5ah batt, or do i need an upgrade to 7 or 9 ah ?

Hey is it TBTS full DC? If then its a full DC bike and no hassles for a 35W HID as the stock halo is 55/60W. But u mentioned that its got a 5A battery then it should be an AC+DC setup, lighting is AC.

U need to change the coils as well as the rr for the DC conversion. If u can change the RR to a TBTS or any DC type can also do the job for a 35W HID but being with a 5AH batt will be a pain on city drives as well as on b2b traffic as it will get drained faster. If r serious about this then, go for the coil upgrade or rewind the coil with a thicker guage in all the poles and feed it to a DC RR and some wiring mods too. Make up ur mind and get back
