  • Amlan - I got your point; basically you're talking about the dried up water marks right? Point #1 - If you wax the vehicle, any type of marks (including finger prints, dried up water marks) are easy to remove for sure.

Next, if you use ONR to wash, like I said before, the dry marks of ONR forms a thin coating film, which also becomes easy to remove.

Point - Never use plain water to wash the vehicle. Its not effective.

Did you get clarity or need some more info?

u mean waxing after the wash or the wax that was already present before the wash???

If u are referring to waxing after wash, then thats my prob, cus i wash my bike every weekend and i dont find the necessary to wax it everytime, but if i dont, i land up with these dry marks which looks like my measles on my bike...lol

I will get the ONR next month becuase em tight on budget this month due to the paddock, and riding gears and lubes etc etc etc

what can i use on temporary basis before i get the ONR?? car shampoo???

Err...the standard procedure is to wash with ONR & wax. If you've applied the wax well, you don't need even to wash it for 2-3 weeks. Just a simple wipe with MF will do. But each time you wash with ONR, remember to wax.

Well, I would've said yes. But after using ONR, I don't think any product comes close to it.

May be you need to try one of those car shampoo's on temporary basis.

          • I get my bike wash from a local mechanic. He use's shampoo, by shampoo I mean hair shampoo, :P Keeps the bike quite clean and now during the rains I keep my bike covered so I was my bike very rarely like once in 2 weeks.
I would rather be riding my bike thinking of God, than sitting in the temple thinking of my bike.

Make sure that they are not using high-pressure water on the bike . It'll harm the bike . I committed this same mistake once . Bikes are meant to be washed with a soft spray of water only with the exhaust pipe securely covered . If possible .. without detergents .
@ Amlan - those are water drying marks you are getting .. quite normal . Try using a few pinches of surf/tide with the wash water . Wax afterwards with natural carnauba wax like waxpol/turtle etc , that'll last more than a month . Don't un-necessarily wet the bike every weekend .

                      • Guys the only problem I've with my FZ is that my bike is always covered with mud (since only MUDDY roads due to pipeline work going on everywhere at my place) during the rainy season (traditional Indian Roads....WTF), & I have to take my bike out whatever the weather is...........
so guys can you help me how to protect it from getting dirty (I've the extended mudguard also) & since its a daily business, cannot wash daily, & since my bike is only 4 months old I don't wanna get it rusted TOO EARLY

how to maintain FZ during monsoons (say protect it from mud & water & getting it rusted)..whats the proper procedure to wash it (from which product) & how to wax it properly (again which product is good)......would be thankful if you guys post pictures of the product .................... and is it ok to use DIESEL/KEROSENE for washing (mixing in the water with a little bit of detergent)

Washing twice a month is alright, I only wash alloys/tyres/mudguards/engine bottom/main stand and silencer bottom etc other days if it gets covered with mud. On body panels and consoles etc I first soften mud/dirt etc with wet cloth (dry cloth against hardened mud/dirt results in round swirl marks), then i use soft dry cloth to remove water spots. and I have high quality shaving brush with very very soft bristles to clean places where cloth cant reach. Dont apply too much pressure in any of above steps, gently clean.

Use carnauba wax, I prefer Formula 1.

Keep an eye on rust at places like number plater holder etc, such places have tendancy to rust easily, buy a matching color spray can and apply it after scrubbing rust from metal.

Use very very small quantity of surf/hair shampoo etc in small bucket of water. Dip clean soft cloth in mixture and start washing. As long as u use tiny amount of surf/shampoo it will not harm bike's paint. Some people add 1/4th shampoo bottle to water resulting in fingers getting stick together. Such rich mixture feels like washing bike with glue and its very harmful for bike.

                            • Guys, how about using this (given in the pic) which is attached to the leg guard, to avoid mud accumulation into the engine, just waiting for opinions, or should I leave it as it is. Also I want to what is carnauba wax/formulae 1... because I don't know abput it & what about WAXPOL or something like that (cant remember the name properly)
