    • Help regarding washing

Does washing your bike with water hoarse removes the chain lube on bikes like r15 ?
Does anyone have a proper way of washing the bikes to prevent it from rusting ?
How to take care of bikes in rain?
How effective is the teflon coating ?
Will using a dry/moist cloth on a bike produce scratches on it?

            • Its better to Keep your Bike Clean... wash it with water but don't use any detergent or soap. Try to have a soft cloth...

Most Important part is Polishing and Lubrication. After every wash with water you must polish the body and put oil/grease to other moving parts. (Never Polish or Oil to the brakes/Disk)

I Always find more pleasure in washing and maintaining my bike on my own than the service center guy.

              • My bikes engine head/tappet area is full of grease/dirt/grime. It is at a state where i cannot remove using normal cleaners. How do i remove it?

Anybody has any experience of 3M Premium Liquid wax?

For cleaning i was thinking of getting the Amway car wash.

Try Moto Max, Loving their product and the cost is perfect too.

The 2k rubbing compound does remove minor scratches. Also the shampoo is great, good foam you can say. Polish is bit boring, you need to buff it for some time. Handjobs do become strenuous after sometime when there is no shine

Damp the cloth with little bit of Wd40 and rub it on engine parts (panels) and let it dry. Make sure you dont spray wd40 directly on the engine. See the shine.

Bro, I have tried almost every famous wax that is sold in US. Like, Turtle, Meguirs, Formula-1, Mothers but my suggestion is Collinite. The best shine is Meguirs tech wax and Collinte 915 Marquee de elegance.

But the best shine is not the deal, the best durable wax is what required for a motorbike. IMO a car has more flat paint area, so the best shine will look better, where in a bike all we need is a paint protection solution.

So I strongly recommend the Collinite 476S , coz its cost effective 350gms about 1K , which is enough for 8 mid sized cars. Also it cuts down the bike wash by 50%. In simple words after application, your bike will become like a non-stick pan and will always repent water and dust without making them stay on its surface and this wax coating lasts upto 6months, no matter even if you wash it with a detergent. Hence all you have to do is to wipe off the bike weekly once with the micro fiber cloth to induce more luster shine. So practically your periodic bike wash are brought down by more than 50%. Most OEM service centers offer something called teflon coating, which is quite similar but just a gimmick, try the Collinite 476S and you will get a better coating and protection at a cost of say 50Rs per application for the next 6 months.

Only the 476S is able to withstand that long while all others, including the expensive Collinite Marquee de elegance offer a deeper shine due to the high carnauba content, but lasts only for a month or even less. Only the 476S has the best combination of ingredients which lasts much longer upto 6months (I tried a few local ones like 3M liquid wax, MM etc, I cannot accept those as a waxing solution at all)

My Four Year old R15, few fairing plastics in the front was changed an year ago. But still I get the same shine for about 6 months, just by wiping off with the micro fiber cloth weekly once. (Including the alloy wheels and tyre sidewalls)

After reading your polish report, in recent time i did an exhaustive study to get the best shine on the bike.
Saw a Bosch Polish gun which costs around 5k, use any God damn polish and you would have the best shine, be it 50rs Waxpol.

Now coming to your discussion. I see thats quite a lot, 1K for polish, no ways. Not just the money factor but even utility wise.

                              350gms for 1k = Waxpol 70rs100gmsx3 = Rs210 for 300GMS
Any polish should repent water and dust, that is its primary job. If you are stating that the dust is getting carried along then try using a regular cloth instead of MF Cloth.

6months?? do you wash your vehicle with wax only , for my bike one bottle lasts upto 7-9months on regular wash on saturdays. To match your 300 or 350 gms i need 3 bottles so that is 21months- Way too much, even the expiry wont be there.

50Rs per application, thats more than half of the polish cost.

This is my 4th bike with wax pol, been riding and polishing since 2004.

This is just a fact and not a suggestion, also since you can spend 1k on polish i would like you to introduce to a Pune Member, Niranjan Vaidya - NV. I think he uses a Meguairs Polish unit which cost around Rs 14,800 odd, yes fourteen thousand for polish only. It covers everything and he does it every weekend.

But yeah the r15 is a pain to polish.

About the brand Moto Max, i have recently shifted to it so will conduct a report after a month, before that waxpol was the tool.

About the brand Moto Max, i have recently shifted to it so will conduct a report after a month, before that waxpol was the tool.

I too use a Bosch equipment for polishing my car. But there is a slight change, its a regular small Bosch drill unit used in homes. I have an end disc pad prepared with the Eurow microfiber cloth in front for better results. But the equipment is good for cars, for bikes manual polishing is the best coz the equipment cannot reach out mostly.

The cost aspect, 1K for 476S gains much value. The reason being, I tried Formula-1 which is around 250rs for 300gms and Turtle Hard shell at the same price tag. Both offered a decent shine, but was not durable at all. Just in few days my alloy rims and windshield got attracted to dirt. So, I had to wash the bike again in a week, the bike wash marked the end of the wax coat. While 476S, even at rainy season it proved to work really hard. The plastic/fiber body parts repel water effectively and just a wipe is off is required by the micro fiber to bring back the shine. Also the Alloy wheels/Tyre side walls need just a wipe, practically there isnt a dirt that wouldn't peel off with just a wipe after the 476S coat. (Even applies to crow dirt). But yes after a ride through the rain mud, gravel will get deposited on the inner non-painted areas and have to clean it with a water wash. During normal summer season, I wax it once before the season and thats it....I think about a bike wash only months later.

Also the Eurow micro fiber is a purpose built cloth which effectively peels off the Wax coat and offers a great shine. Cost is 100rs and the I cut the cloth into two pieces and I am still using only one piece for over 2yrs. Yes at times I use regular cloth for wipe off dirt from my car the only difference is that using micro fiber induces more shine every wipe.

Trust me, you wont consider the local ones as waxing solution after trying the ones from abroad. Coz there is no compromise in quality, so is the price. The meguirs tech wax is the top-shelf product for them and the cost is only 1400Rs for 450gms. Its offers a good deeper shine, but lasts only for a month. Meguirs offer a wide range of other products like chrome polish, tyre polish etc.

My point is using a less durable wax often and waxing weekly/monthly is still wastage of resource, time and energy. So a 1K for >5yrs of protection must be feasible if you consider to sustain the looks of your automobile, while the other aspects are cut down by over 50%.

End of the day its your call
