Riding in the rain washes my bike.
So "how often" depends on how often I ride in the rains.

Now Showing: K2K 9000Km of Solo Bliss
    Rolling Thread: Bangalore Backroads

    My Last few rides:
    Kumaon Wanderings - Darma Valley
    2400Km of Solo Spiti Sauntering
From the rains of Uttarakhand to the deserts of Ladakh

        Totally agree with you

My watchman has been washing my bikes everyday for the past ten years. Absolutely zero problems whatsoever. Bike look shiny new till date. I wax/polish her up every month. Gets the jet black shine back. Only problem is black color is such that you can make out even the slightest of dust. so every time I get on her I make sure I again wipe her clean with a soft cloth.

Just take care of the above things which jd666 has mentioned and also take care that your watchman does not spill water over the fuel tank filler cap (else you gonna land up with some water in your tank). Tell him to simply wipe it clean with a wet cloth everyday and tell him not to spill water anywhere (specially the fuel tank and the brakes). Preferably wash her yourself once a month/15 days so that you keep her in spanking shape.

DONT ever use normal shampoo on your bike. You'll screw up the paint. Use a car shampoo instead.

Every morning when I look at her the first thing I do is, I wipe all the dust on her with a soft cloth.
I own R15 and P200, and I wipe both regularly, even if am not riding!
As far as washing is concerned, every 2nd sunday is the gala day!
Thorough washing with car shampoo, then rub off all the water with dry cloth, after that polish.
I never misuse gallons of water, instead I bath her off only with neccessary amount of water.

There is lots of dust around near my place...and its very very very difficult to keep the bike clean. But still. it gets a wash every week once and waxing once a month. and daily cleaning with soft cloth.

ofcourse, i dont like to see a single dust particle on my bike. nut even under the mud garud.

once after the wash, i apply grease at nessecary areas, Rust-Off at rust prone places and make sure that water doesnt stand at any places, especailly fuel cap.

Looks like you found a job now..
ok seriously, i think you love your bike too much..

Its been over 7 months since i bought my R15.. I have never washed it till date, & all the washing she has been through is at the SVC during the regular servicings.. I do clean the bike with a soft-dry cloth whenever it appears to have a lot of dust/ dirt on it.. I have polished it just once till date.. I take care to park it in clean & safe areas, so maintenance (regular cleaning) isn't all that required..
However, i used to give a proper wash to my previous bike (Discover 135) almost every Sunday.. I somehow feel my R15 get less dirty..

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Actually I don't waste time to wash my bike. It again gets dirty in a day or two. Instead I spend that time in riding it. Moreover, I love my bike to look dirty, filled with mud and dust all around. It gives a feeling that I ride a lot.

I never wipe my bike, dust creates microscratches on the paint surface that makes the pain dull over time.

I get the bike pressure+diesel washed whnever it gets dirty, no fixed frequency followed.

I've hardly ever polished the bike, just the regular 3M teflon coats at the service center 4 times a year.!

One word - Dont do that!! Ordinary shampoos are not properly pH balanced for automobile paint therefore over time they have dire effects on not only the paint but rubber and plastic as well. A high quality car washing shampoo is designed to gently lift dirt from car paint and leave behind luster enhancers that help protect the paint.

I wipe both my bikes once a week, using a damp cloth to take the mud&grease off. In rainy season I spray water onto the discs&chain covering etc.areas the same day, but still hardly ever wash the whole bike except for when its serviced. Polishing once a month.

i make my bike wash my bike once in a week by a washing guy in our society and rest of the week with a wet cloth just clean it and allow it to dry then clean up with a dry cloth before leaving for office, i used to apply a small amount of formula 1 on my tank and thn rub it for a shining tank and it used to last for a week
