I do get my bikes washed every alternate day with clean water and once in a week with 3M Car Wash Shampoo.Originally posted by jd666 View Postanyone who is a frequent washer, encountering any rust?? squeaks or rattles??
Usually, this is when I do not polish them (due to paucity of time).
Earlier, I used to wash, polish, wax and detail my bikes every week and cover them when not used. This prevents alternate day washes.
My 18 year old Kinetic Honda was washed almost everyday for the first 15 years and she stands without rust even today
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Had a pipeline taken directly from the overhead water tank to create needed force, clean the bike every Sunday sharp at 10 finish by 12:30. Used pressure wash once a month....................then the laziness started sinking in and now it's pressure wash once every two weeks
EDIT: I never touch my bike between the washes, i'm afraid i might scratch the bike trying to dust it off. So i use maximum pressure on the nozzle to clear any loose grit, and then use a regularly washed cloth to lather the bike with shampoo (Amway Car Wash). It takes nearly two hours to wipe the bike dry completelyLast edited by EL LOCO DIABLO; 12-27-2009, 07:24 PM.I'm too intelligent to the unintended, and too dumb for the obvious.

Why should frequent washing produce rust? If that was the case, many of our bikes would become rust buckets in the monsoon.
I'm of the opinion that bikes should be washed regularly and more frequently in rainy season when grime/mud deposits increase. Keeping the surfaces clean preclude the formation of rust.
Areas most prone to rusting (on a Karizma) seem to be the silencer bend pipe and the frame bits ahead of the engine, where deposits are maximum.
On an RX, the only way to keep the mudguards rust-free is to power wash the accumulated grime/mud away - regularly.
Wash, wipe dry then polish - there's no way any surface would rust, unless perhaps you live directly on the coast. Or if the bike gets wet and stays wet (and dirty) regularly.
Most bikes now have a large amount of plastic anyhow. The wheels are mostly alloys and don't rust. It is the frame and chromed areas that are susceptible. Keep them clean and there will be no rust.
My formula for keeping bikes clean is to wash with soap/diesel/kerosene when needed, then dry and buff with a soft, clean cloth. I would *never* use a dry cloth to wipe any surface.

My babes beauty regime.....
I just dust wipe my RX135 daily with a clean soft cloth every time i take her out for a ride, on sundays the naked beauty undergoes wet cloth wipes (this ensures that all interior parts are clean enuf, I also scrub off dust/muck and other residual particles during this wipe seson)
and once in a month a general water wash at a nearby pool (my home lawn) and a full service every 3 months ( unless reqd earlier).

once in two weeks and only if there is mud...
if its a layer of dust i just dust if off..
wash it once a month and apply polish.
bad mistake.
during the monsoon my bike was a mess, i was lazy so i thought i would clean off all the mud once the monsoon is over. BAD IDEA !!
the mud eroded the paint and just wouldnt come off !! gave it for wash in service centre and found dark patches everywhere.. so wash you bike atleast once a week in monsoon maybe once a month in summer.
Regardless, Life shall go on.
