Do check out the quality of HID as they get yellowish after some time. You can go for it if you are getting the mentioned projectors at that price. I hope its after all bargains, if not then make sure to have a word..Originally posted by 111diablo111 View PostI am getting one in that price so i guess i should go for it..Pulsar 150 (2005 Owned)

I have a hero impulse and want to install a hid projector. From what i understand, the hid requires a dc supply where as my bike has ac supply, hence i should connect the hid directly to the battery via a relay. Impulse has a 35/35w headlight. My query is:
1) Will this drain the battery out completely if i connect the hid directly to the battery?
2) Is it necessary to convert the bike electrical system to full dc to save the battery?
I hear that some bikes end up with dead batteries. Can't take such a risk as i ride at night quite a lot.
Any other thing that i should know.

@ nano.. sir I am newbee here.Originally posted by NANOtechnology View Postoh my god !!!!
guys why don't you search some threads initially or at-least GOOGLE before posting up every single question..
now let me clear up 1 part..
DC CONVERSION for AC bikes.
okay..
first let me tell you, HID when switched on, does consume more current, but DEFINITELY not 8amps or 10amps as someone said.
the basic is that AMPS means Current.
so the calculation is 35w / 12volts = Current (amps)
so in general a 35w hid/halo/anything will consume 12v and require totally 2.91 amps (stabilized).
before it goes to stabilized stage it requires MAX upto 4 amps. goes down pretty quick, so even a 5 amp battery is sufficient for a single HID.
now lets come to VERY BASICS of coil rewinding and APE RR.
see there's 1 thing called as coil.
it CHARGES your Battery.
it looks like this ---

so generally out of these 7 poles, where copper wire is winded, 3 are for HEADLIGHT (which is on AC), while 4 are for CHARGING the battery.
which in even simpler terms means that 3 of the poles will provide current to the headlight bulb, 4 will provide current to the battery to CHARGING.
so when we talk about DC, we pull up all the current from the BATTERY itself.
so initially your headlight had a different source, now your battery is that source, so it will DISCHARGE Faster, no matter how much amps has the factory provided.
to overcome this we do COIL REWINDING.
what we do it USE all the 7 poles for CHARGING ITSELF.
so those 3 poles which go unused otherwise are used to charge the battery..
to do this you need to take a SINGLE WIRE, rewind it across all 7 poles and then give output to ape rr directly with no other contact.
got it ??
now your battery is getting almost double charge.
the reason we use ape rr particularly is because it NEVER OVERCHARGES the battery.
if battery is fully charged, it won't even provide 1 amp extra.
my bike's ape rr provides 0.89 amps at 12k rpm if the battery is fully charged.
but when needed, the same ape rr provides 13 amps at 12k rpm, when battery is dead, also when both of my HID's is ON.
got it ?
I just wanted to ask that if the ac current that is coming from the remaining 3 poles is converted into dc current and are directly attached to the 35 w hid in activa ....will it function......
I just mean as there is ac supply which is direct to the head lamp if we just convert it into dc with out connecting it to th battery will it work....?
If it does then there will be no issue if battery geting discharged ryt........?? The hid will only get switched on when the engine will be running........ am I correct sir.....?
Please help.....I am quiet confused...?Last edited by satyajit200ns; 03-15-2013, 04:43 PM.

Re: Basic of Projectors, HID and their Installation
Hi All,
Am new to xbhp and become a crazy fan
of the same by reading about the bikes day and night.
I have a query regarding the Halogen bulb and Xenon. I own a P150 2005 model spokes wheel model. Done with 61k in Odometer. Am rebuilding my engine completely as engine parts of worn out and need to be rebored (shown pics below), repainting the base from Silver to black and installing Self start. With all these modifications I would like to go for a better bright headlight as am no where happy with the 30/35W provided with the bike.
I don`t want to get caught by the cops by installing the White lights, but am in need of bright lights, while installing self start. Am gonna change my dry cell battery to bigger liquid battery, recoil with higher gauge, change the rectifier to a bigger one and also do rewiring if required. Along with this I would like to use a better headlight.
My queries are
1. If I go for 60/65W will the power be better or shall I go for Single Xenon which has low beam Halogen and high beam Xenon.
2. Also let me know the whether the low bean halogen in Single Xenon will be brighter than normal 60/65W halogen? What is the power of low beam halogen in Single Xenon bulb?
3. What is the power of High beam Xenon in Single beam Xenon?
Thanks in advance guys
. I would post all the pics of my engine parts soon. Posting few for now.

Re: Basic of Projectors, HID and their Installation
Hello People!
I am new to this Thread, and have a quick question for you guys. I am riding a ThunderBird 500 from Mumbai to Nagaland soon. It already has projector for low beam and a regular high beam like that of Pulsar 220's. What i was wondering is if we could some how convert the low beam projector into a BiXenon projector by adding a Solenoid? Members with Pulsar 220's please help if you have already done this kind of a set up. I am already running a 18amp 12V battery so there is no problem with the current requirements while running both the lights together. My Upper has a 55W Osram NV and the projector has a 35W HID.
Last i checked there is a lot of Fog on the way and most of that area has Ghats! you guys must have noticed while banking on a Ghat the straight light from the projectors tend to incline towards the corner and you wont be able to see the road ahead. I know i can use the Upper while banking however once your eyes get used to HID's white light its tough to see clear with the incandescent bulb. Also the aftermarket Bixenons available in Mumbai are not that great, and unreliable i wouldn't put life in danger with that. Others are too expensive.
Please Help!

Re: Basic of Projectors, HID and their Installation
I need a help
Before I had installed Bi Xenon HID ( with two seperate filaments). Few days before the bulb has fused and I bought another bulb from ebay. But it is single xenon (with solenoid)
My problem is the bulb is working fine with High beam, but when I change to low beam, the solenoid pull back the filament but that time filament turns off.
I cant understand what is wrong with this.
Somebody pls help me to solve this

Re: Basic of Projectors, HID and their Installation
Firstly, 8000k hid is useless. Its just blue light. Would suck in rain and under street lights. Ideal would be 4300k, but 5000k would do. What projectors have you bought?Originally posted by farshidfarz View PostI am using pulsar 220 ,running on stock h7 halogen bulbs.i had buyed raylux 8000k hid,i need it to be fixed for dim, what procedures should i do to fix it in my bike?what modification shal i do?hid is 35w ,pilot lambs are led, indicator bulbs are also led,my batery is exide 12v,please help me

Re: Basic of Projectors, HID and their Installation
Yes, P220 has projectors for low beam, but I'm not sure if it'd take in the HID in the given space. Hence my question. If it fits, then you're good to go. Ensure you use good quality relay for the purpose.Originally posted by farshidfarz View Post220 have projectors for dim no?i will change hid to 5000k then,i need a white light

Re: Basic of Projectors, HID and their Installation
Actually the trick lies in getting a replacement H7 HID kit, its a easy peasy fit on the 220s projector, also he would need the entire conversion kit AFAIK viz. Ballast, Relay et all.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostYes, P220 has projectors for low beam, but I'm not sure if it'd take in the HID in the given space. Hence my question. Re: Basic of Projectors, HID and their Installation
I am not aware if the P220 is a full DC setup, uder the assumption it is, there shouldn't be any problem and the wiring would be something like this:Originally posted by farshidfarz View PostI have got h7 5000k hid,it has relay and balast with it,but my question is how is the wiring?do battery drain occur?mine is 12v 9ah baterry, shal i replace it?
